1) Why does it matter if my team wins? Lately I've been looking forward to getting stuck with people who aren't really playing or don't know what they are doing. Sure, we loose the match, but I'm at the top of the ranks and get more SP and ISK. If I'm on a good team, it's more competitive and the SP is divided up more evenly. I generally make as much SP win or lose, but sometimes on a losing team I get more than if I had won. When I first started playing I got really spun up and pi**** on a team that was idle and never crossed the red line... now I just smile and go Rambo on the reds until we inevitably lose. I win no matter what.
2) How is salvage calculated? Is it totally random? I feel like when I'm in the top 2 or 3 for the match I have a higher probability of getting salvage, but as I've started to learn the game I also regularly finish in those positions, so that feeling I have may just as easily be explained by loot table changes or just bad luck when I was starting out. Does anyone know how it works?
Thanks in advance for any replies.... |

1) Winning the game nets you a larger share of the ISK reward. Your place on the leaderboards does not influence you're SP or ISK reward. Those are both determined by time spent in the match and the amount of WP you earn in combat.
2) Salvage is relatively random, but you have a higher chance of getting some if you win. |

To note... when CCP changes the daily SP cap to a weekly cap, you will get 1SP = 1WP as a soft-cap once you hit your weekly cap.
So, in the very near future, WP will impact SP directly.
Also, I *do* believe that your placement on the board, or the WP accrued (which is what your board ranking is based on) does have some impact on reward. As an example, I have finished in the #1 spot in back to back matches. In one case I had around 1500 WP, and in the other, well over 2100.
In the match where I got more WP, i cleared 300k ISK. In the match with lower WP, i only made 240k isk.
So, I am pretty sure there is some link between WP/performance and payout. |

My experience has been that win or lose it doesn't matter though. If I'm getting about 1,400 WP per match or so, win or lose I seem to get about 10,000 SP and 250k ISK either way. If I'm in the top 3 I have about a 40% chance of pulling a piece of salvage, again regardless of weather we win or lose the match. That just seems like my experience... |

It currently does that as is before you hit the cap. SP/match= 5/Second + 1/WP earned.
Im not sure of how it works with the ISK reward scale. |

From this it seems like the answer to #1 is "it doesn't matter if your team wins or loses as long as you got your WP in..." |

For SP? No, win versus loss doesnt matter. You are rewarded for playing, and there is no WP bonus for winning a match (though it would be cool...)
For isk, Your team gets more on a win overall, but its split up based on team/individual performance somehow... And then something about overall pay out is also based on gear quality used in the match? I honestly dont know enough about the isk rewards to really say. Its why I avoided mentioning these bits earlier. |

I'll make some fits up and play around with that tonight and try to use the power of science to find an answer. |

At present, winning or losing an Instant Battle doesn't do anything MAJOR other than affect your W/L Ratio.
However, if I understand contract battles correctly, your side forfeits their collateral payment if you lose.
Going forward, then, it sounds like victory will be far better for your bottom line (ISK) than losing. |

Do you have a source on that? I recall there was a dev confirming that salvage is totally random, but I myself can't find the post.
Even without the dev post, it is pretty sure loot is random. There's been instances where people have been joining the game that's just being finished, going straight to the end screen, and still getting triple salvage, including marauders.
And getting triple good stuff even on losing side. |

Isk pay out is affected by the isk loss you inflict on the enemy and time spent in match, so the more expensive the stuff the enemy is useing, the more isk you get for killing them or destroying their vehicles, at least that's how I understand it works. |
