Trying it out right now and not sure the lower damage per hit is balanced by the super fast firing rate. The 'burst' fire mode is kind of odd too for a HMG. Anyone else use this that has some input/tips?

And yeah, burst mode HMG lol-wut much.

It does have the highest damage output of all hmgs. That said its like a mid range shotgun. You can one shot any heavy, but you have to keep the stream on them. It's a hard weapon to use but great when in a more close quarters map.

Feels much better in cqc though in a hallway shootout. on biomass or comm. It doesn't wield too well in the field.

Yeah I use it with the heavy damage mod but couldn't really think to use it without. Gotta be good with your aim to make it work due to the burst fire.

If you think of it as 16 hp damage or whatever it is, for the normal HMG at 2000 r/min that's pretty good.

But for the burst HMG take 12 hp damage and multiply it by 2 because it fires twice as fast as the standard HMG.

Since the burst HMG fires for about a second for each "burst" I broke it down for just one second.

One second of standard HMG fire is about 33 bullets or 528 hp damage.

One second of burst HMG fire is about 66 bullets or 792 hp damage.

So if everything is perfect the burst is far superior, but unless you're tickling they guy you're shooting at with the tip of the barrel a lot of shots will miss. I mean if they were really as accurate as every one says that cries nerf then everyone but the toughest heavies would drop in a second or less.

Also remember about the spooling time for accuracy, the burst never really fires long enough to get much benefit from it, a little yes but not as good as the standard.

Makes sense. It basically IS the shotgun of heavies. You'll need to be close enough for the full burst to connect. Even then its not as easy as people seem to think it is for us heavies with bunny hoppers and speed suits running around. This is a good counter to another heavy though as it rips through them. They can't really get away...

The problem with it is that it fires too many shots at one time. A shorter burst may help but if also needs a much bigger magazine.

If you start firing and your target moves a little most of your bullets are wasted.

At this point its a toy but not a serious weapon to actually use.

Limiting our choices to the standard and the assault, but the assault I can see eventually having a purpose, t was especially nice to use during the bowl matches on the Hk server.
