Heavies, like all classes in this game, have counters. Get a shotgun scout setup, or a ranged laser or a sniper rifle. Heavies scale musch slower to the point that advanced and prototype suits are pointless. When Assaults have proto, heavies will get gunned down much easier than they do now. To even take advantage of "doom mode" the heavy has to crouch, effectively freezing you into place making you a great target.
So I have a challenge for you whiners now, train up heavy and hmg to lvl 2 each and see what it is like. I guarantee you will get stomped. |

as a heavy here, i appreciate this. also, dreading the impending stompage, only thing i ever spec into, and 3 nerfings(that i know of, might be even more) have made it painful |

I sometimes run a hevy with a broadside two damage mods, complex plate all on a standard suit and ill tell you that when I get an Assault with a GEK-38 AR the don't even get threw my shields I don't ever get stomped. |

The only time I die Is when a shot gunner comes after me, or a good squad coordinates against me. Other than that I see +50 all day long. |

Been there done that. Once mechanics, shield regen and maximum shield skills are maxxed then its just a matter of running with a team that kills the enemy AV.
Thats easy.
Try running solo heavy Cow versus advanced Lion Cheetah shotgun scouts. |

Running a heavy is a PITA since the basic heavy suit is borderline useless and the heavy proto is just a pathetic waste of SP as compared to when I run skinweave Scout and militia shotgun on my alt.
Like I keep saying once a few core skills are trained then its proto scouts since I hear the nova knifes are getting fixed. |

A defense spec'd well trained assault can have 600-800EHP. Now that I am getting my skills back over the last few weeks heavies pose a much smaller threat to me than they did just a week ago.
Heavies thrive off of unskilled (both in sp and gameplay experience) players. As the rest of the players figure out that defense specs are probably the best at the moment for assault I think the heavy rampages will come to an end. Well at least until the game launches and all the new players come in again and get eaten up by heavies. |

This next week the Hippo rampage is over for most. But the forum nerf whiners will never be happy until the heavy suit is 20 shields and 50 armour leading CCP to at last notice no one using heavies and then deciding to do a heavy buff.
Its pointless and borderline useless to spec anything beyond basic heavy suit.
Long term I will go scout then Pilot then Command suits.

Also since you can outrun a heavy I tend to take them down quite easily. I can put all my defense into my shield, I also run faster than the heavy. I can get in a first bout with a tac assault rifle. Take and give about 400-500 damage. Retreat until my shield is mostly up. Then start round two into their still downed armor. All the people claiming heavies are gods will feel pretty silly when they realize how survivable all the suits get once you have the skills, suits, and mods. This is still the worst case, ideally I can sneak up dump 10 rounds into them, then use the SMG to finish them off in one attack.
One last point is on cover. Ideally you should be using or very near to cover. If you are both in half cover you can still do near max damage with good aim. A heavy loses about half their damage because of a wider, less controlled spray. |

Try running solo heavy Cow versus advanced Lion Cheetah shotgun scouts.
So now your comparing the difficulty of running with a tank with squad support to running solo as a heavy? hmm interesting by that reasoning everything needs to be nerfed because someone with a terribad fit cannot kill anything with a better fit and friends?
Its balanced on team play, you cannot expect to be a kill em all solo machine. With good skills and a good fit you can go Rambo mode quite well but you will alway lose out to a squad, as scout, assault, logi, heavy or rolling a vehichle, you will never beat those with friendly support as a solo hero. |

dont worry heavies soon you will be beat down like a ***** by every proto suit on the field and people will move on to how op tanks are because their militia swarms and forge guns can't kill a proto tank. which of course would be no problem if any one had started putting points into AV but of course instead of seeing how much they fail they will ***** till tanks can be killed with 6 rounds of militia swarm. |

Yep. Same thing every build except now theres no monthly or so wipe. But three months from now it will all balance out. |

No, its not, you're just a great player like the rest of our corp. If it was that easy, you'd see heavies going 50-0 in matches, oh wait, thats all the snipers I see regularly. |

Right now Dust is worse than MAG in the whole "Heavy+MG=HALOL SKILL IZ 4 NEWBZ" department. Personally id rather see the movement rate and turn rate nerfed, especially when firing. But don't kid yourself; There definitely needs to be some nerfing here. |

Sorry to burst your bubble, but balanced suits is a bad idea. It makes sense that a Heavy would be more powerful and be able to have more tank and put out more damage.
The Heavy is powerful, but a team of nothing but heavies would fail and lose all the time. This is why there is no need for balance. Just use each advantage. |

Nothing needs a nerf, the balance is already almost perfect. Everyone's complaints are just showing how little they think it out. |

Personally I think the game is balanced. Remember the MMO/RPG aspect. It is supposed to be like that because of roles. The heavies role is to LIVE.
However coordinated effort can kill heavies EASILY. Like super easily.
Also try using different weapons (I am a logistics). If I come at a heavy straight up with a AR. I expect to be killed. However if using other lesser used weapons such as a mass diver. Or even nades. Nades WILL kill a heavy.
As for balancing (my idea can be very bad). The problem is we skill into different suit types. how about we put SP into suits to get std, adv, or proto. But can use ALL the different suits (heavies, scouts etc.).
Personally I am fine with the way things are. Heavies are tanks. Scouts are DPS, Logi are healers..w/e (no idea about assaults)
But I think my idea would be satisfactory to all the people. It doesn't nerf anything and gives access to all. |
