I've noticed alot of people on my friend list play dust for about a day and never play again.
Now may I remind you these are the call of duty kids where they expect pick up a gun and run style. No theres a process to this game.
Now I noticed if someone usually doesn't like this game its usually because they are painfully confused.
If I took the time out of my hard mercenary day to teach my friends they love the game.
Now if they were call of duty boys and don't wait for me they hate the game.
Example :
Me : Do you like dust Friend : No Me : Lets go play one time let me show you Friend : Ugh alright *Proceeds to dust* Me : Do you have mic enable Friend : No I don't know how to do anything *Begins 20 Min step by step process
I feel like CCP Should make a mandatory interactive tutorial. |

They also need to make Voice Chat default to ON and PTT default to OFF and the voice channel default to TEAM chat instead of SQUAD chat. |

I can't really blame them. Don't get me wrong, I like Dust, but it's still in beta and is currently not on the same level as shooters like BF/CoD/Halo. It's really no surprise for people to come into an unfinished, unrefined, buggy game and not get the same amount of satisfaction as most other shooters.
Another reason is because some people just don't want to have to invest the amount of time that one does with a game like Dust. They want to simply pick up a game and play. Again, I don't blame them. Sometimes I'm in the mood for Dust, but most of the time I just want a quick and fun shooter experience like Halo. People don't want to feel like they need to "work" to have fun in a video game, and for someone new, Dust can feel that way. Once/If Dust is at that AAA shooter level, then things might be different. |

I don't think that DUST will benefit from having players who can't figure out such simple things. One thing that I like in EVE is learning-curve-filter. |

The problem with Dust currently though is that some things are difficult by design, and some are difficult because they are poorly designed, there is an important distinction. I'm not so much speaking to the specific topic in the OP, but just the game in general. There are many things about it that are poorly designed and unintuitive, people should not have to be taught how to play, it can come naturally and still have a learning curve at the same time. |

I know this feeling all too well. Originally I signed up for the closed beta with a friend of mine and I'd hoped the two of us would invest as much time in this verse as each other and really get to grips with the game. He played twice and never again. Even after bugging him for weeks and months to get back into it he still won't and I can't figure out why, he's as much into fps games as me, but I think the main problem is he's currently too involved with LoL for any other game to take precedent.
Sigh, maybe in a few months. |

hope your wrong,seems some players just want the game to fail or have such big ego's you cant ask them something without a snide remark.ccp can make the best game ever but with only ten badasss playing it cus they come at the ones trying to learn it with rudeness.my fav are the hmg heavy players that steamroll noobs and think they are gods but really are just playng game on easy mode. |

Testers need to be guided to this forum as well so they can look up information and so we can get more feedback in general. Still, it's a little odd to me how many people don't at least read the tutorials and look through every section on their neocom. |

Good Stuff, I also feel that CCP let themselvs down pushing to Open Beta tooooooooo quickly. IMO it should have been closed beta until they were at a point where they can say "this is DUST" and this is everything you'll be able to do at launch. All the game mechanics are tip top or close as possible, we have 100's of maps, thousands of items, 1000's of charactor customisations, all the game modes you see in competitior titles BUT there may still be a few niggly bugs we need your help to find before we can call it "Released". And once released we'll be giving you regular map packs for free, regular weapon packs for free, new game modes for free, updates and bug fixes forever for free Not like your AAA FPS games your used to that patch twice and leave you to live forever with any bugs they missed because the new buggy release will be out soon...
IMO this is far to early for Open BETA. closed beta testers are usually a bit more thick skinned. Console ("beta") Demo testers are not usually there to test, they are there to try out the new title. DUST isnt fleshed out enough for them yet and they will leave after a day in droves.
But as its F2P that might not be too much of an issue because when all the "rich" kids pay -ú50 for COD62/ BF38. Where will the poorer FPS player go when the COD61/BF37 server has nobody on? |

I hope and think that Dust 514 can survive until the PS4 launch. If it makes it onto the PS4, it can get the memory and stuff that a game of this type requires, it also gives CCP some invaluable experience in making shooters.
Until then we'll have to live with a shooter that isn't AAA, you could even argue it's not AA, but that doesn't matter... I like the meta gaming, I can enjoy the game from time to time and I realise CCP are doing their best and with a lot of good intentions.
Sure, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, but I remember another developer who was even more tight lipped than CCP...... |
