Or Pay up so "blueberries" can actually help during a skirmish against all these big prototypes?

I just want to see how far along this thread will get by tommorow. Gnight Almost no one has proto anything yet.
Besides, even if the blue berries were given 9 million SP, they would still just use militia gear. |

Even if I did have proto gear, I wouldn't use it in a public match. I make silly mistakes in my first couple of matches of each day.... and then some more after that.... If I had it, I wouldn't want to lose any of my stock to something silly. I also wouldn't want the reputation of throwing good gear away due to the afore-mentioned silly mistakes. |

The current state of uselessness that plauges blueberries is more to do with being unfamiliar with the game, its maps, and how to effectively build a new character. With very little skill points somone new to the game can deal a fair amount of damage if they learn how not to squander sp.
I'm sitting on 2 mil sp. I run militia everything 95% of the time.
Its experience that's running these people over more than pimped fits. |

Last night I did tests with 2 new characters, and turns out new players are not prompted to do any of the tutorials after the first one, so they only get the Neocom tutorial. They don't get to see the fitting tutorial, skill tutorial, or market tutorial (unless they manually access it themselves in the help tab of the Neocom). This could explain why so many new players are clueless; earlier I encountered someone posting feedback, and he thought Dust had a set class system kind of like Battlefield, and didn't know he could create and edit his fittings to replace his guns etc. This ignorance is likely responsible to new players being way more incompetent then they should be.
I think its a bug, so I reported it already.
EDIT: I created a thread about better education of newbs here. |

Its experience that's running these people over more than pimped fits. Pretty much this, because of my awesome autistic brain I memorize maps faster and harder and stronger to. (Sorry I couldn't resist DK reference) but like all FPS' I've ever played the one thing that everyone seems to ignore is map awareness. Which so happens to be what I'm great at, once people learn how to read the map and understand what it means you can start looking at the terrain and find places to hide, shortcuts and whatnot to ambush the enemy. there's also the fault of people having horrible aim. You need to be able to hit to kill the enemy just so you know. SP advantages only really mean anything if the player has the skills to put them to use. And in certain cases is willing to spend a lot of isk to risk dying in a pub game. |

DUST will be around for years to come. If ya'll are worried two weeks into open beta, then what advice are you gonna give newbros a year from now? Don't bother playing?
Mercs, HTFU and keep working on your own game. Stop worrying about everyone else's. Vets will have more options than you, but that doesn't mean you can't compete. The skill tree is all about diminishing returns - and it is going to expand. A lot.
Let's top spamming the forums with "catching up" threads, and start spamming AV nades at Mr Zitro's tanks!

It'l end up just like EvE. Old players have a lot of options, ne players specialse then broaden as they accrue more SP. I think, just as in EvE, the amount of ISK you have backing you will be a bigger factor than your first few million SP.

Or finding out how silly you really are running around the track 18x only to find out there is no finish line.
I mean seriously think about it. What if you're 6 months late, a year late, 5 years late to the party?
There will be no catch up system and to be honest as an old aged eve player, its not needed. New players join eve online every year and some of those new players are a hell much more successful than my old self in that game. |
