The help text for vehicle fittings states that militia turrets are fitted by default. This is not the case with a dropship. The turret (two of them) must be purchased from the marketplace then fitted to the vehicle. ONLY then can the dropship be called ingame. The current help text suggests that a purchase and a fitting is not neccessary...as long as you have the prerequisite skills you can use the dropship ingame and that is not the case. The fitting hud does not clearly inform the player that the turret boxes must be fitted with something...the red highlighting of the circle around all fitting boxes does nothing to tell the player which boxes must be fitted. The alert text only says that one or more boxes are mandatory but it doesn't say which one. This was cause for me to incorrectly spend skill points, isk, even my own real world money (i also purchased aur under the impression that i would be able to use aur to purchase what i wanted) on the wrong assets. I then submitted a petition as to what i was donig wrong...what do i need to purchase...i was told that i didn't need to purchase anything... While waiting for a reply to my help request I searched the forums and only then found the correct information. To make things worse the reply I received to my petition read;
Quote:There is no mandatory item for a dropship in general. It works just exactly as tanks. You don't need to fit engine for it but it greatly improve the use if you fit a shield recharger and a good quality gun.
I don't know anything about tanks, I chose to focus my skillset on Dropships. If I needed to know about tanks then that too shouldve been a prerequisite.
As expected my first dropship crashed THEN I discover that, unlike my light vehicle, I have to purchase another.
Not fun.
...all of this frustration and disappointment could have been avoided had I been given clear instruction on fitting and use of the dropship.
None of this was fun and in fact I am very hesitant to spend more money on this games development. I will follow development and look forward to a more intelligent, concise interface, and help system but until then I will spend my hard earned money on a game that REWARDS me for my spending - Planetside 2.

The militia tanks are equipped with militia gear as are the dropships. ONLY the militia versions.
The light vehicle is a free fit to get you started everything else you have to keep buying.
welcome to dust! these features will not change. |

I think this is a problem with the recent changes to vehicles with the latest build. It seems many/all vehicles no longer come with any stock modules/turrets. I think it used to be the case that they'd all come fitted with at least turrets, and yeah you didn't need anything else. I'm not sure if the zero-fitted vehicles are working as intended, but it's a recent thing, and the descriptions for things haven't really kept up with changes over the builds
Also, in the future I think they will be allowing weapon-less vehicles, so that requirement will go away. |
