To begin with I love this game by and far. I have never been a fan of FPS's aside from Planet Side 2, but I love this game. This game has all the makings of being a great game, but it almost feels like it is always falling a foot short, an hour late and what have you. Its the slight tweaks, a nuance short all the time.
Who am I?
Character Creation: This is so sad. Before "Incarna" we still had a somewhat great character creator in Eve Online (BTW can you guys on the DUST team get word to Eve team that I want my Minmatar gas mask back?). I understand that Carbon will most likely never be workable on PS3 or even PS4, but surely if I can customize my version of Commander Shepard to look a good deal like Ronald Regan we can do better then a mask here.
I need a Voice: I am a huge Summit Geek, and a forum warrior to be sure. At some point we will all get tired of the endless shooting of people in the face just as people in Eve get tired of endless ship kills, BLOBBIN' and Hot Dropping and when it does there are three things that have always renewed my Eve Batteries. Fanfest, Alliance Tournaments and The Summit. It would be great if our Mercs could at least take part in The Summit.
Who am I: Finally I would like to see the ability to write character bios. I have always found that this small but crucial feature help not only define me but helps others deal with me.
A battle that matters
Planet Side 2: I hate drawing comparisons but Planet Side 1&2 should be a measuring stick of what we are missing. Galaxies transporting a squad of people, rows of tanks moving towards an objective and Mosquitoes providing air support. These things can all be done now in DUST, but what is lacking is that they are all moving in ONE direction. There was a game mode in Beta that the battle moved across a map, and didn't stay at one location and we need that battle mode back.
In that game mode both teams would start on one side of the map and capture objectives and disable each others CRU's. Once one team had done this the map would expand to open new objectives. It was a rolling battle, where there was more then one way to win, Dropships were viable and it wasn't rare to see two or three tanks roaming together, getting repped by an LAV (as a side note why the hell did you change the Dropships controls, they used to be easy to use now it takes forever to figure it out and the ISK associated with learning is ********).
Faction Standings: If I slap you in the face, chances are we aren't going to be friends for long and if I take up arms against a Nation, chances are that my visa will get revoked there to say the least. There needs to be agents in the game and those agents need to contribute to standings for one Nation/Corp and damage relations with another. This is a sand box game, but as there is no "reset" button for the choices I make for my characters skills, there also needs to be consequences for fighting for one person as opposed to another.
Faction Standings also need to be worth something. Faction Armors, modules, weapons and so on vehicles and more. This also means that at some point I would like to see faction armor. Minmatar Heavy suits, Amarr Scouts ect.
Game Modes
Horde Mode: Not exactly how it sounds. My idea of Horde mode would be something like you, or you and a squad take a mission to attack a target (mining colony, asteroid colony whatever). This would be much like an Eve Players mission running in that it has levels like 1-5. A level 1 is fairly straight forward and simple, a level five not only would you need a well tanked and fit character but probably always a sell fit and tanked vehicle. The mission would look something like spawn at entrance, move through a facility or city scape and reach an objective where you hack something, kill some one or steal something. Perhaps you let out a prisoner and escort them to an extraction point (Damsel in Distress anyone?). The missions would have a fight kill factor, hence the Horde Mode.
Now I am sure that all of this is coming at some point, but my concern is that firstly this does not feel like Eve, or an extension there of and that this makes this game feel like any other FPS I have

Go play Planetside 2. You seem to like it. It likes you. You understand it.
You do not understand DUST514, mostly because it is not Planetside 2.
You can write all the Bio you want for a character. Go ahead. Make your day. Post it in google docs and share it with your friends.
is there a button where I can pat your cute round head remotely?
Shame. Guess a clip will have to do.
I bet I can write Beta on your backside with a Toxin SMG. Maybe that will embed it into your brain.
When you go to sleep tonight, chant: Beta, not Planetside 2 (repeat until nighty night wins). |

Yes, there are many things missing, we are still in beta, so of course they are missing. All of those things you mentioned will be in the game eventually, but right now they're not critical. We're still testing and balancing everything else. |

I understand exactly what you are saying. In the beginning there weren't even Battleships in Eve (There was but they were Titan rare). Graphics used to be...well you know and then we got Trinity. Things will improve, just throwing out ideas. But one thing we need bad is more then cookie cutter battles. |

Damned game is 5 minutes old and already full of bitter vets.
Good luck attracting players with these toxic attitudes. |

The true bitter vets have been in beta for a year now and will sometimes make a post about how they miss Replication and that DUST 514 was at its best in those long past days of yor, way back when. Some of them even still play from time to time. They are rare creatures, and their habitat will eventually be over run, so should you sight one here, just know that unless you have walked a mile in their shoes, or scored over 10,000 kills in a single build using nothing but remote explosives, it is best to let these cranky denizens be, quietly back away, and hope for the best in future updates. |

I started in August (I think that was Replication), and it sucked. Hard. |

You hit the nail on the head there. Alot of these forum warriors think the game is their own private little club and that influences from other games would take away from the "deep" experience that is Dust. They get very upset and defensive when it is brought to their attention that there are other games out there that are superior to Dust in so many ways.
To add to your thread OP.
Dust, first and foremost, needs a massive overhaul of the game engine. This to me is priority number one. Before anything else is added or nerfed or taken away, they need to get the game running at at LEAST 30 FPS. |

Lol nice. Kraven and myself were going to RP a thing on the summit but he got orders to deploy before we could. We had a story in mind but sadly cant pull it off without him.
