Please kindly remove the automatic letterboxing, or at least turn it into a toggle in options. I play Dust on an old Sony Trinitron (not even LCD) and the letterboxing/widescreening cuts the viewable play area on the screen in half. It makes it really hard to see things, especially text, since the TV I use is not of super HD quality, and I really like the game! (been playing EVE Online since 2004, on and off though, on another account)
If this widescreen mode was removed or turned into a toggle in options, it would be much better. I believe it's not a problem on my end, as I have already triggered the Widescreen option on my TV and it just further widescreens the widescreen. I have also put the screen size option thing (in Dust 514 Options, can't remember exact name) to 100% and my view still remains widescreened.
Thanks for reading!

I very strongly suggest you look into purchasing a small HD TV. They don't cost that much these days. You might even have a friend or family member who's upgrading their boob tube and could give you their old one. Or you might find a gently-used one on th' craigslist or somewhere like that.
HD makes a huge difference in a couple of TV-use areas: Sports ("Omigawd! I can actually SEE the PUCK!!!") and Video Games.
My roommate got F.E.A.R. when it was new. We had a big ol' CRT TV. A few months later, our other roommie gets a HD set. "Holy Cow! That crap up in the corner wasn't fake writing! It was actual words that tell me stuff about what's going on in the game!" The text in the chat in DUST isn't as small as the "who's talking to you on the radio" indicator (or whatever it was that inspired that reaction in me) but it ain't large and easily readable on my 22", that's for sure.
Anyway, bro. I think you're just going to have to deal with the letterbox. Good luck, dude. |

Yep, I actually did have a small HD TV, but it got wrecked during moving house, not enough padding when we stashed it in the back of the moving truck XD. So now I'm forced to hook up my PS3 to the huge old Sony TV that survived the move :P Until I can get a new one :o
I have the same widescreen problem with Far Cry 3, it's really annoying :(
But please if any CCP Dev sees this, please turn the automatic widescreen into a toggle so those of us with old school TV's can enjoy Dust in full screen!

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!
Man, that bites it, big time.
Hey, I just had a thought on this - doesn't the PS3's options cover you on this one?
PS menu -> Settings -> Display Options (or something like that)
Again, much luck with it, bud. |
