ive been a scout since May 2012, and ive seen a huge influx around E3 and precursor then a Huge exodus around Codex (when they fixed Hit detection and slowed down the strafe on Scouts). Even when they nerfed at Codex i still manged to get a 3.0 kdr with it, i just had to switch my strategy up (and no iam not a sniping *****) i use SMGs and get right in your face. Even right now in a dragon fly scout suit with 1complex shield extender and Advanced SMG( 175 shield, 90 armor) i have a KDR of 3.50.
Iam literally the weakest suit in the game

Wait till cloaking is brought in, then you guys in those lovely scout suits will have some more amazing poitental. As long as scout suits make the best use of it that is.
Also i love the scout suit, though i mostly use it for goofing off, when i hit my cap, some nights i just put on a scout suit, equiped with my Toxin SMG and A nova knife, and run around the map on skirmish preferably, trying to kill people with the nova knife (I have done it, poor heavy with an HMG, didn't think i could run "that fast" apparently), typically it's some poor unsuspecting sniper, who wasn't planning on plasma being stabbed into their back. Too bad for them.

Nah. I'd still use the nova knife, on the B-Series, probably the advanced nova knife. Why? Cause i just love the feeling of being in complete danger, and still managing to survive a barrage of bullets.
Feels good to get a kill on the red dot heavy, knowing that i used my whimsy little knife that i had to hit probably a good four hits of melee upon him, maybe even use a full charge to poke him extra hard, while dodging all his shots, just to kill him.

Scouts are fine. You just have to play them right. Granted they aren't the unstoppable killing machine heavies are because one mistake will kill you. You might want to play with a shotgun though because you are a glass cannon. On a good Skirmish game I get as many kills with my scout as I do with my heavy on Ambush.
I actually fear that stealth will break them. You can already skulk around the battlefield almost undetected. Add in stealth to my kit and you'll never see me coming. |

I take it that one of the main advantages of a scout is being able to get the jump on your opponent when going for a kill. Sure, you die quicker - but if you get to fire off the first shot(s), that should balance it out.
My fear is that once people skill up, this just won't be true. Other suits start with higher base tank, and will probably fit more defence than a scout (who may want a hacking module, dampener, and precision scanner). The scenario that worries me is this (with AR): you sneak up behind an enemy, they are unaware, and you start to fire. They are similarly skilled and equipped, but with (e.g.) an assault suit. They turn around as you are getting through their shield and proceed to kill you very quickly.
Playing as a scout, I don't think I should be winning 1v1 against a similarly skilled and equipped non-scout suit. I think I should, however, win fights where I have the element of surprise.
I'd love to hear what scout players think. As things stand right now, there are a lot of new players so it's much easier to get kills. But longer term, will they still be good?
(This is setting aside the fact that the scout has other roles to play, too - but in fulfilling those other roles you sometimes need to kill someone!) |

Another way to put what I'm saying: Sure, you can kill lots of players now. But will that be true when you are playing matches against similarly skilled and equipped players? Will you be able to kill that occasional target that you need to as you are performing your scoutly duties effectively?
Imagine that the person you are fighting is actually as good as you fancy yourself, except equipped with a similarly costly assault or heavy suit. |

I love my scout and as I see it, if people want to attempt to get my most used suit a buff so be it. Just better not nerf it. |

Hit detection was not fixed. Scouts have artificially heightened survivability due to the fact that they often do not have damage register against them. |

Any proof of this survivability being artificial, and not working as designed?
Scouts should have a smaller hitbox than other suits, so it only makes sense that damage doesn't register more often. Otherwise called "I missed my shot". Also, they are faster than other suits, so if lag is present this will make them harder to hit than slower-moving targets. |

hitboxes are all the same size for all suit variants, has been stated previously, somewhere...
as for enhanced survivability due to bad hit detection; you're wrong I'm afraid, hit detection is working fine, otherwise the blue sheild strike vfx would not show, at all. Problem is with damage replication/notification, it can been seen happening at all ranges and in all situations. |
