I don't know what has happened, but I'm seeing so many different corps that it makes my head spin. I understand that some are new NPC to accommodate the influx of players, but Open Beta has now become a red light district of corps.
I understand that EVE is supposed to be a cut-throat world where anything is game, and that spamming has been around for quite some time, but I think it's reaching a critical point.
The closed beta corps from before still cling onto dignity and the ways they've been running with before and I applaud them for it. However, the new corps being formed by the mass of new open beta testers are a mix between headless chicken confusion to red-light district marketing.
I'm seeing new corps favor numbers over preferences and direction. This in my opinion is an incorrect mode of thought to go about being a leader. It goes without saying as well that these corps were spur of the moment.
I slant not against new corps in general though, there will always be new corps and always should with rising numbers. I also do not speak against the new corps being formed knowledgeably.
I do believe that with an exponentially increasing population of corporations, that the value of any one given corp drops. When there are 100 new corps made in one instant, the worth of any one of those given corps is much less than when there are only 10 made in a given instant.
It's my conclusive opinion that a great influx of corps creates unsanitary slutty competition amongst the lowly populated new corps and the great power corps that have been around since closed remain largely atop them as they are secure in reputation, numbers, and power.
Therefore I cast the following prediction of Dust. *I do not guarantee accuracy*
1.Influx of Open beta testers=influx of masses of new corps. This has already occurred. 2. The new corps begin a mass scramble for players. This is happening now. 3. Time goes on. A few of the new corps accumulate moderate fame and numbers. 4. The first of the once-new corps begins to assert a higher level, though not as high as the current closed beta corps. 5. The unsuccessful corps that never made enough lift off begin to die off. The newbies flock to recognition. 6. A fraction of the original new corps make it to secure numbers/power. The others become increasingly stagnate, becoming more and more forgotten. 7. The successful "new" corps make it into standings with the older more stable corps.
This is just my current prediction. Basically, we are in the dog-eat-dog world stage, where anything goes and all tactics are in use. In the end though, very few will make it to such secure stability as the "original corps" as I will call them. The others will forever remain lonely, or they will bail on it.
I give you new CEOs this ultimatum:
"You have little time and great competition. Power comes not from numbers, but from strength. Operate with strength and you will become a truly stable and secure corporation. Operate with numbers and your followers will become listless, directionless. They will feel as if they joined into another NPC corp. You have little time to heed this wisdom. Now be smart and quit spamming the forums and chat. A good corp draws strength not from numbers but from direction and resolve."
Feel free to ignore it. You'll only be considered low down dogs in the muck should you do. I'm not saying that these new corps are all bad, but the way they're currently going about sure implies it.
If you are a new corp with dignity please hold onto it and we'll respect you.
TLDR: You new corps are on thin ice. Walk right or fall in to the cold water. Also quit making new ones. |
