Was just messing about in a dropship when I got bumped into by the ship that deploys vehicles. Suddenly all my shields and armour has gone, I'm a flaming hunk of junk falling out of the sky before I go spread myself and aforementioned dropship over a wide area of terrain.
I was wondering if this is as meant to be, or if the A.I will be getting an avoidance protocol or aircraft will be using a bump mechanic similar to eve's?
either way no hardship just curious. |

Its a good question, dropships need some serious love right now, and while I dont miss the boot of god, its ridiculously easy to destroy a drop ship in any collision. |

Yeah, it's semi-intended....
A couple builds ago people would use dropships as they were completely free like the militia LAV and go squashing people for matches on end. Since they didn't take damage from colliding with the ground, (or very little) and couple it with being invulnerable to swarmers as you were able to out run them indefinitely with ease, they were rather annoying to say in the least, so CCP drastically increased collision damage to stop it from happening too often.
This is also why occasionally you can blow up your LAV by nudging different objects the wrong way.... |

Thanks this answers a lot of questions and little niggles iv had about vehicles in general. By the sounds of it people were using them in ways ccp didn't foresee and so to stop these problems they nurffed them meaning that the core gameplay wouldn't be effected by the issue. I'm guessing with the idea of taking the time to rebalance them at a later date when they can spend the time on them that they deserve.
Again thanks Daddrobit |

Wouldn't be surprised if collision damage is tweaked again |
