Seeking targeting intel on Orbital Bombardments during battle. Apparently; its prerequisite is to:
- Establish contract supply and location
- Secure orbital position
- Locate ground forces strike signal
The Question: How does a DUST 514 merc corporation set up the bombardment and contract with their New Eden capsuleer corporations? |

eve side faq on how the two games interact. the bit you want is about halfway down the page http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE-DUST_514_Link_FAQ and as i far as i understand if you want to get one of your corps pilots to launch the OB, you just need to make sure he is above the same planet your fighting on |

Planet and District the second part is important as well because there are several districts per planet and you won't be able to lock one while you're focusing on another.
Also your ground side squad needs 2500 War Points to earn the ability to call in the support so EVE side guys won't be able to fire until then.

I too look for some info how to call on my good friend on the EVE- side to come in and bomb my enemies.
What do I need, guys?
1. Do I need to be in a Corp? I-¦have played alone in closed beta for the last three months, and like playing time to time when my family lets me have the time for an occasional 2 hour session. So corping isn-¦t really the way for me I reccon...
2. What skills do I need to call in an OB, and How much does it / they (skills) cost?
3. How do I call on my friend up in the sky?
4. How does my EVE- allied find me / us in the whole universe? Do I have to give him the coordinates somehow?
5. Maybe I have to join his Corp or he would have to join me somehow? Pls advice.
Anything else I need to know or do?
I am a heavy, and skilling up quite good now, keeping scores regularly round 6- 700 wp, so I should be able to earn the skills to call in OB soon I think...
Thanks for all support in here, guys. |

Here's what I have found:
Orbital Strikes in "Instant" battles are as if you would call them in call of duty, theres no player on the other side.
The only time theres an EVE player hitting OBs is when you are in a Mercenary Match, or a Corporation match. These are set up at specific times by the corp director/CEO. So, you can't just join FW and OB a planet, you have to be part of a FW corp that has these matches set up. I tried.

Ahh, Okey, thx for the info mate. So corp matches are indeed locked matches and nobody (even a small corp) can-¦t join the game? Am I correct in this matter?

Corporation matches are one corporation against another. Nobody else can join or even see the match (there is a thing where if you're in a squad with one of the corp you can still get taken into the match but that has to be an organised situation and a set squad).
In normal matches you can still get Orbital Strikes if you're squad leader and your squad earns around 2500 WP (it's somewhere near that number, maybe a little less). You'll get a little blue notification at the top of the screen when it's available to the squad. If you're squad leader, get to a safe hiding place and press right on the d-pad and go to Off Map Support.
The problem is you'll only be able to do this if you're squad leader, which only occasionally will happen in random public matches and even if it does, you've still got to rely on the randoms in your squad to get enough WP, which is also rare. You could start you're own squad but it will never get filled automatically, so you'll have to find people to invite.
I'd advise you to consider joining a corp. Even if you're only able to play occasionally, if you pick wisely, you'll almost always have people willing to squad with you and you might get to take part in a corp match. Not all corps require you to be on all day every day. Send in an application to R.I.f.t and we'll gladly squad up with you when you're around. |
