Like, profiles, density, and all that. I know nothing about it and would like to know anything that might be relevant. I'm using a Scout so I want to sneaky-sneak but I don't really know how.
EDIT: Many views but no replies so I'll expand: How does movement speed affect scanning? How do walls between you and other dude affect scanning? What is scanning "density"? And so on. Anything is helpful, thanks. |

No numbers but heres how it goes....
Each suit has a signature radius and a sensor strength (like ships in eve). The lower your sig radius the harder it is for you to be found. The higher your sensor strength the easier it is for you to find someone. There is then some mathematics involved with distance and line of sight and things that dictate if you can "see" someone
Certain things you do in a match can effect these attributes: Sprinting increase your sig radius, Shooting increases your sig radius, Sensor mods (two types, one that reduces your sig, one that increases you sensor strength).
There is also a vehicle mod that allows you to see everyone within a certain radius.
Not exactly a comprehensive explanation, but you get the idea... |

Keep in mind this is just about whether or not you show up on the minimap and on other people's HUDs.
When you see a red marker for an enemy player on your screen, it's because someone on your team got close enough to them for their sensor strength to pick up the enemy's sig radius.
Now, I can't tell if aiming directly at an enemy player massively boosts your sensor strength in that direction, or if it just flat-out overrides the sig profile mechanic altogether.... But think about how easily you've been able to spot enemies out in open fields, and how you get the marker and health bars popping up when you do aim at them...
Until we get proper stealth modules, you're still going to have to stay out of sight the good-old-fashioned way if you want to be sneaky. It looks like dropping your sig radius only reduces your chance to be 'auto' detected due to proximity. |

The Dropsuit Command skill reduces your signature radius. I found when I got it up to 3 and then 4 that there where a lot less people coming after me with guns blazing and I was getting the drop on enemy combatants a lot more often. If you like flanking the enemy, or you are doing any of the scout roles, this would be an important skill. |
