The one stick movement for a wheeled vehicle is probably the worst layout ever (Short of D-control)... and you cant even change it? |

I don't think CCP has ever played a PS3 game with a vehicle before. If they had, they would of known that R2 = gas and L2 for reverse/brake and/or X for gas and square for brake/reverse.
It's interesting they still haven't fixed it, CCP needs to play some Warhawk to find out how to properly assign vehicle controls. |

What? Really? No one likes the controls? How awesome is it when you jump off a cliff and spin around twice before landing? especially when landing means there's 2 redberries below you |

Ughh, I too have always wondered why the vehicle's controls are so odd. Drive camera and an accelerate and brake/reverse button are a standard minimum for vehicle controls. If you really want direct steering then that's fine but don't put the accelerator on the same input. |

Redberries is such a poor term. Blueberries is unique since it's actually a real fruit and also perfectly describes bluedots.
I think raspberries or Strawberries would be a better choice, as those are both defined as "red berries". |

I think red cherries is better. It both rhymes and matches their colour. |

as a tank driver I would like to say it does not work well for tanks I often have to stop completly to turn sometimes the controls glitch up and it moves the wrong way(happens sometimes when you try and move the turret and body at the same time). yes you cannot lose control of the tank but nither do you have much control over it |

My theory is this:
Video game developers all learned everything they know about vehicles while being driven to the Talented and Gifted program in the back seat of their mother's Buick or Minivan. While the car was moving they moved their thumbs to give them the sensation they were in control of the vehicle and, to a lesser extent, their lives.
Now we have an entire generation of non-driving, non-racing games that have more abysmal controls than anything a forklift company could devise. The worst part is they are proud of these abominations as Not Invented Here is strong within this community of ne'er do wells. Additionally I suspect there is a secret prize given to the developer that makes driving a vehicle worse than ever.
Rage has simple controls allowing you to shoot, change weapons and have fun while cheating on the physics because the fun part is more important for some insignificant developer like John Carmack.
The most horrific part, for me, is as mentioned: there are unused buttons on the interface. I cannot ask, "What were you thinking" because the answer is right there before me. Plain as day. |
