we have about 33% of the game correct so what happens when the new suits/weapons come?
I'll use myself as an example I'm a minny so I would like to use all minny weapons/suits but by time I they come I could be halfway into the current scout suit/sniper/mass driver/lav at that point it may be downright stupid to start up another skill tree due to me having spent most of my sp in the other skills.
so will there be a skill reset(note I said skill reset not wipe) so we can speck into the race of our choosing?
would like a dev to reply to this please
also wasn't sure where to put this so to the training ground! |

I've wondered about the same thing - I'm Minmatar as well. For the time being I'm avoiding race-specific skills as much as I can, but I will need to upgrade Scout suits pretty soon to be able to wear the higher tier ones.
Skill reset goes against everything CCP has done before, but a limited skill reset might be in order. For example, when the race-specific skills are introduced, you are allowed to swap SP already spent on race-specific skills of other races to those of your own race.
It might be better if you change the subject to a more descriptive one... |

you say 33% of content i would say we are closer to 5% and i would presume nothing when they have put new things in to eve its just the case of skilling them up and also they are planning updates for the next 10 years with new content, i doubt they can do resets every 6 months when they add content |

This is from experience with eve and knowing how CCP think.
You are not wasting skill points. You will still be able to use whatever you have skilled for already. Not using skills for something that may or may not come is your choice. Skill points are only reimbursed if a particular skill is removed, or changed to a high degree.
Everyone will have to train up anything new so your not going to be put out too much.
Also note: the current weapons do not say "Caldari assault rifles" but just "assault rifles". They may have skins of a particular faction but this means nothing to the skill Dont expect Minmatar laser rifles |

Also, it may be likely that when the more race specific gear comes it could be of a sort of tier 2 flavor. In Eve, a lot of Tier 2 gear has better tanks, but also bonuses that place you in an even more particular role. So we could see somthing like a grenadier suit, or a logi suit that improves shield transporters in LAVs, or a 'navigator' suit that has much higher powered scanners for spotting the enemy nearby. |

Think of it as balance for us getting a big SP headstart. Someone starting the game next year will have a better idea of the skills available, while those of us with tons of SP already may end up with some of it "wasted" in skills we no longer care that much about.
If you are really concerned, dump all your SP into passive skills for the time being. I'm attempting to wait for the next build before making a final decision my suit specialization. |
