Negative-Feedback 215	Posted - 2013.01.23 20:08:00 - [1] - Quote I know many corps are actively recruiting players and there are training corps, but im fiddling with the idea of creating a comm channel where players and selected members from the community(I want a variety of corp members and veteran testers on this). The idea is simple like a big brother program ideally i would like this channel to function as a in game training channel where new players can get tips as well as join into squads with "veteran mentors" who will walk them through the fundamentals of character creation and general gameplay. I did this with a friend yesterday i invited him to my squad helped him activate his comm and then verbally walked him through basic day 1 SP distribution and skill book purchases, after a brief intro i took him into a few games and showed him the gameplay and general tips and tricks.. I know this has a lot of potential for epeening but lets keep it at a minimum. I now leave this in the hands of the community to discuss and nominate players based on class and weapon use. I would like to see a good mix of tankers, logis, assualt etc etc. If there is interest in this and it seems like its something that will have a positive impact i will move forward with creating the channel. Thanks Edit-- Maybe create multiple channels for each type of player/build so that it isnt one giant chat channel and a bit more streamlined?

Don't play EVE so not sure but yes i guess it would be something like that, just basically keep the Corp management level at 1-2 and bring in 10-20 players at a time give them like 1-2M ISK and send them on their way.

I try to answer any noob questions in local I notice, they would be easier to find if on a dedicated channel and new players would be more likely to ask in a help channel. Less fear of getting flamed for the question. If multiple channels, there should be a general help too, in case a player doesn't know what channel to ask in. New players in particular may not know the categories. If nobody in general help channel knows the answer they could at least tell them the channel the experts in that area are in.

Negative-Feedback 215	Posted - 2013.01.25 00:26:00 - [23] - Quote It's a good question, First i dont even know what we can do with them in channel, i dont think there is a way to kick them dust side, so we might need it controlled eve side if we are going to keep the channels under control and free from trolling as well. Beyond that work with them for a bit if you cant teach them or they are unteachable pass them off if after 3 people can no longer work with a person remove them from chat and send them back out in the cold, I mean we're trying to be nice but we cant teach the unteachable or the impatient.

Why do the noobs need their hands held? Let them figure things out like we all did, it's all part of the experience. The more we hold their hands and give them handouts, the less likely they will do well on their own. Let them apply to a corp and have the corp teach them the ways. As a hand-holding noob charity drive seems very un EVE-like.

It's better to squad with them and give helpful advice than to leave them be worthless blueberries. And we can also somewhat influence what roles we'll be seeing in the future- nobody really wants more AR grunts on their team. Since we always see tons of LAVs going around as transport, then being abandoned, I'm thinking we could train more people who can turn the LAVs into something more deadly than a taxi.
