Coming into the beta today, I went to the market to look for weapon mods, and found the damage enhancers, the gyros from EVE if you will. A raw increase in damage is nice and all, but I would rather use that slot for something more like and EVE tracking enhancer, increasing accuracy rating and effective range, even if it is at the expense of clip size/reload speed. |

The FPS portion of the game lets you use KB/M or a controller. So which ever way you prefer to aim is currently supported.
If you don't put the dot on the object no skill bonus in the world is gonna work. You missed. If the dot isn't orange the target is not in range of is hidden and you are sighting off of TacNet information. All the guns use some kind of dot for precise aiming, excepting the Rail Guns, Forge Guns and some ARs whose scopes are currently bugged. The AR Scopes are being looked into so they don't really apply to this conversation.
The standard AR Operations decreases dispersal (make it more accurate) and kick (making it more accurate from the hip). The Light Weapon Sharpshooter gives 5% increased range per level.
All that add up to 25% more range and 25% less dispersal and 25% less kick which appears very much like more accuracy to me.
It might help to tell us if you are having problems with a particular weapon. The current skills are tied to the biggest limiting factor for a particular weapon which is a reasonable target overall. Specifically I was burst firing at a target in the 100-200m range, which I would consider decent range for an assault rifle, and in the entire clip not a single bullet hit. Yes my skills are bad, and coming from EVE I know that the best way to get better is through skills, however modules usually give a bonus equivalent to a level 4 skill. I am wondering why there is no such mod for accuracy, while there is for pure damage. |

Zero Harpuia wrote:The biggest problem with that is how it would affect balance, and just as importantly, how it would effect the guns. We went through a build with accidentally perfectly accurate ARs once, and it was upsetting to say the least. Also, accurate HMG would have a more condensed cone? What about the AR? Less kick, or less deviation? Accuracy is a rather blanket term in a non-numbers game. I was thinking primarily reducing deviation from where I am aiming, so I have a better chance of hitting with my crosshair directly on the target, but a worse chance if it isn't on the target. So far the kick hasn't been a problem, and with skills to decrease it I don;t think it will be a huge factor for me, though I could so it being bad for other people. |

Anything more than that is pointless and stupid.
But an interesting idea. not great, not horrible, but interesting. lets toss the idea of how this would work without being auto aimbot assistance.
This is exactly what I was thinking. In fact, because firing cone would be smaller, it would be harder to hit a target you weren't aiming at directly. It could also have something for snipers in decreasing the amount of time before your scope settles
