Intriguing lore-based article. A couple tidbits some may not know:
>the Amarr statement was talking about US. The Templar program is the start of all this in New Eden history. We would have all been Amarrian if the technology wasn't stolen - and I'm not just talking about us clone soldiers here, the thief saved billions of people from conquest and likely slavery by making it available to the other empires.
>This news article is only based upon what we already have By "contested areas of the Empyrean War", they mean factional-warfare systems. We haven't come around to fighting over private corporation territory yet. But we will eventually.
>Pirates are likely, but this wasn't a tease for them. Once again, we are the result of the speaker's faction. This beta is referred to as "Mordu's Private Trials", which means Mordu's Legion had a role in bringing clone-soldier technology to the other three empires. I am not sure how they acquired it, but I am assuming that Mordu himself stole the Sleeper-based implants to reverse-engineer. |

Considering many of the things we can do would kill a normal human, yes.
Hell, even the decription of the Drop Uplink is that it invariably causes lethal radiation exposure over repeated use. But hey, when we use it again its because of last clone body has been shot, stabbed, bludgeoned, blown to kingdom come, cunningly disguised as roadkill, or been left as a pair of smoking boots from an orbital artillery fire mission.
radiation exposure is the least of our worries.

There are some chronicles(eve online short stories) about mordu's involvement. The tech was already spread to the four empires, but was flawed. Soldiers going nuts and writing in 514 on the walls in blood. The implants were removed from sleepers, an ancient civilization and reverse engineered. Mordu found an intact one. The empress made a proposal for all the empires to fund testing of a new version based on mordu's find. |

is the official version.
Read Templar 1 for how the amarrans had exclusive access to the tech and had it stolen by Mordu's pack of merry nutjobs and reprobates. |

Templar One was a decently good read, enjoyed the explanation of how our clone's blood is already infused with nanites, and the built in muscle memories to pick up a weapon that Templar One had never seen or used before and fire it like an expert. |

Wait a minute... You don't think that's how Militia gear works... right? Seriously, you can use a Militia Forge at 0 SP, even as a Gallente Arbiter - who probably hasn't even touched Caldari tech in his life, much less a Heavy Anti-Vehicle special weapon. |

Seriously, you can use a Militia Forge at 0 SP, even as a Gallente Arbiter - who probably hasn't even touched Caldari tech in his life, much less a Heavy Anti-Vehicle special weapon. Probably exactly how it works. That might explain why some weapons don't come with a militia version, like the HMG or Mass Driver. They may have operation requirements that are too complex to artificially implant into every clone, so you have to actively learn how to use them.
Also, if anyone's wondering how Mordu's Legion was able to acquire immortal soldier technology, they were able to convince Templar One that it would be in New Eden's best interest for every empire to have access to immortal soldier technology, as opposed to just letting the Amarr have the trump card. He defected from the Amarrian empire to allow Mordu's Legion to study and reverse engineer his implant, which they then distributed among the other Empires.
It's been several months since I finished reading Templar One, so I'm afraid I'm not able to go any deeper into the story at the moment and some of my info might be slightly off, apologies in advance.
And if anyone's interested in checking the book out, I'd highly recommend it. Good stuff all around. |

The original implants were basically cut out of sleepers in stasis tanks and implanted into clones. There were, shall we say, difficulties with the original implants.
The Amarr gave the technology out for free to everyone after working out a way to mass produce the "consciousness transferring" implant based on original sleeper technology. Part of that is right there in the trailer every time you start up the game. The Empress basically has the tech released to all the empires. This get's explained in Templar One as well, which I read a while ago, so a little foggy on specifics. But let us just say she was in two minds about what to do with the implant technology. In the end it was given away, not stolen.

It was exactly stolen. The other Empires found out how the Amarr started the Templar program but ran into the problems mentioned in the Book Templar One. Jamyl made the wise decision to share the purified trooper tech with everyone to prevent and very bad even happening thats explained in the Templar One Book.
I'm trying to avoid giving out spoilers but there is a damned good reason.

We have no way of knowing that for sure. They have Templar One but that doesn't mean much.
I know you may doubt that but I have a strong feeling this is really really bad and not so simple. |

Just out of curiosity. This involves spoilers bout the actual book. It has been awhile since I read it and I did lose the book within my own library of books >.<
1. How many Templar's attacked Pike's Landing? 2. How many Templar's where created by the Amarr? 3. Didn't eliminate all the Templar's since they were all tainted? |

If they did, then they later resurrected the Templar program - it's one of the starter NPC corps for Amarr characters.
Speaking of "tainted" immortals, any chance some immortal marked for biomassing could somehow put his consciousness into a wetware mainframe, then inject himself into someone else's clone at a later date? Could make an interesting story, or possibly even an in-game event... |

Just answering my own questions here. Had quick flick through Templar One
1. 13 Templar's (Immortal Warriors) attacked Pike's Landing with names Templar One, Templar Two and so on all the way up to Templar Thirteen.
2. 250 Paladins/volunteers personal applied for the Templar program
3. Some were eliminated due to "Taint" .
The remaining founded what Zat Earthshatter mentioned as a NPC corp. This corp is called Amarr Templars. |
