DUST Search - no mention of dust514 public beta in ps3 store

If you aren't even going to put any advertising effort into at the very least the PSN store then Dust514 will most certainly not gain much of an audience. I did more advertising in the pshome flash mob event last night than I have seen from CCP so far about the open beta.

So it looks like its up to us the closed beta players to get the word out. The NDA is lifted now guys so let's do what we can to get the word out since we love this game and want to see it succeed and the only chance of that is if people download it which unfortunately most have no clue they can since there is no advertising being done.

So this is my call out to our community for help. Let's tweet it, blog it, Vlog it and tell everyone you know in every medium you can or we will be shooting at just each other and eventually nobody if the player base doesn't grow.

You are mistaken the store is not updated yet. follow this website http://blog.us.playstation.com/ There will be a page that say ps store update when the new content is loaded up.

Dust is not in any of the categories you might expect for it to get any attention like featured games or new games. This to me seems like a very basic missed advertising step. If nobody knows the game is now public beta they won't download it. The people that know already are in the game as closed beta testers. CCP if you build it they will come....only if they know about it.

I would have thought with the fact today has been planned for so long that a further wait for the store update wouldn't have been necessary. It also is an observation really of the overall lack of advertising that has been done for today's event. If I were not a closed beta tester already I would not know from really any source other than CCP's websites that anyone can now play Dust. I was part of the pshome roam last night and I was posting in every room we roamed to about today but I am hoping CCP will do a lot more advertising than I am so far seeing.

Well maybe I am incorrect that it updated already. When I tried to log into the store around 3:30 EST I got the message it was not available due to maintenance which is what lead me to be live the update had occurred. I then tried again to access it a little later and it still had no advertising for Dust after that. I still think far more advertising than just the PSN store should be done but I am hoping you are correct and the message I saw was not for the update and at least advertising in the PSN store will be done today.

As I said earlier the only way to find it is with a search or under all games and then you have to scroll down much farther than someone looking for a new game to play will scroll. I see the god of war beta advertised in quite a few sections like featured new game demos etc but not a single mention of dust in any section someone looking for a new FPS beta shooter would be browsing. David Reid you are the new Chief Marketing Officer for CCP and I would think that promoting your game at least on the PlayStation store would make some sense. Come on this just seems like such an amatuerish launch of this game. There has been 2 weeks leading up to today plenty of time to actually advertise the move to public beta. I have seen many games pre-advertise their beta launch and then advertise it even more heavily on launch day not just in the PSN store but other media as well like TV. If you want Dust514 to be looked upon as a AAA MMO/FPS that's free to play and worth downloading like you have been saying in the ONLY promotional activities you have been pursuing thus far at trade shows, then you must advertise. This game needs players and those players will need to understand this truly is a beta not like the usual "Beta" that is more a marketing gimmick. The only way for them to know this is if you advertise. Putting a launch video on your website is not what I consider to be effective advertising to reach the masses and although it looks cool it in no way prepares the new players to understand this will be a real beta they are downloading and therefore sets up possibly large disappointment since it heavily emphasizes the link to Eve that is no where near the level of integration we have yet in Dust. Heck we can't even accept contracts from eve corps yet and the new players need to understand that is coming hopefully soon rather than SOONGäó Yes this is a long rant but I am totally flabbergasted at what I see to be a terribly planned or executed launch of the public beta. Its bad enough that there are many things that need fixed and those things will most certainly be pointed out by reviewers but the biggest failure here is if you don't get people to download the beta now they probably won't later because rather than basing their decision on their own experience playing the game they will only have reviews to decide if the game is good. CCP unless you want this game to fail before its even launched you need to start marketing it a little better so/that people know they can download and play it and then they will love it as much as the rest of us already do but if they don't even know its now public beta the player base will never grow. The closed beta testers love this game and want it to succeed. OK rant over now let the trolling begin. I know I am being too critical or its Sony's fault the PSN store isn't promoting dust or better yet I need to be patient because the marketing of the game is coming SOONGäó . For posters that will surely say these things in response to my thread here I want you to just think about the advertising you have seen done for other AAA FPS games like COD or BF3 or other types of games like God of war and ask yourself if CCP is doing any marketing close to the level the competition did for their games or the release of their public beta. I said it earlier and will say it again. CCP if you build it they will come...only if they know about it.
