Corp battles. The pub matches are a roll of the dice. Most games tilt in one direction, heavily. Although from time to time you do get a good match or two.
With the cap, like everyone says, I feel like I put I my couples hours of work to the CCP man to get my SP daily ration. Putting up with the pub matches is just a means to an end. Hopefully we get some new content soon, just try and hold on a little longer! |

No. Please don't tell people in NPC corps to do corp battles. Because they will either have to join a real corp or a real corp squad that is going into a corp battle -- slim chance for a newb in current 8v8 setup. BTW corp battles are also uneven (8 v 2 happens, 8 v 0 happens more), give no ISK, no SP. Pointless.
What they need to do is join some public corp channels and squad with people there -- just LFS. Somebody will pick it up from there. Mics are obligatory. Not being a lone wolf helpful. It will also be helpful in getting contacts for future employment.
And this will still sometimes put you in a match against 8 people from WTF, 4 people from Brink and some randoms from russian corps, you will never live out of a spawn and will try to break your controller (don't!), but that's because match making and spawning are in open beta quality... NOT. |

I had a rough start as well, just try to find a weapon you like and stick with it. Finding a corp that suits you is a huge plus. |

I've found it usually goes 40% of pub games is your team getting slaughtered, 40% is your team slaughtering the reds, 20% are actually close games. |

I apologize I didn't notice the NPC corp. Yeah, that's not gonna work out so much.
But I have found the corp battles to be great, it just requires some prior coordination with another corp. We have set battles on Saturday nights with a friendly corp.
So yeah you are just limited by content right now. It's a beta, it's going to improve. Best advice, find some people in local to squad up with and work as a team. If I am just trying to grab some quick SP, I'll play a pub match, and hit select in the war barge and look at teams. Many times you will find squads of 3 guys in one corp with a spare spot. Most of the time nobody minds if you jump in. |

Sometimes the easiest way to help all the way around is to run a Logistic Drop Suit, aka Logi Bro, regardless of what you spec in as.
Use a Militia Logistics Drop Suit @ 725 ISK each and run the Militia Injector and Militia Armor Repair Tool. Pick an Light Weapon, Militia Grenade and then something to fill the rest of the slots as you like.
I usually have one Fit with Armor Repair for when there are few Logi Bro running. Keeps my clone function enough to get some SP. Follow a Heavy/HMG around if you see one alone.
My non-Armor Repair Fit has Stamina and sometimes a Hacker module.
Then shield mods in the high slots. Start savings clones.
Join a Squad, with friends if possible.
Do not run Ambush maps. Learn how to do the serious work. Skirmish, hack objectives and keep the clone count high.
Use an Assault Rifle that has 60 rounds in the clip. Better than 48.
Get a mic. Cheap BT one at the least. Warn about Red ambushes, Snipers, Tanks (HAVs).
Do not jump into a HAV unless you are committed to doing the job right. The mic will help, unless you jump into a HAV driven by a noob that knows less than you and doesn't even have a mic. Had one stolen and the dufus only got 25 WP with it.
Other quick suggestions: Make a Scout fit with a Stamina module. At the start of short maps run to the objectives and hack away. Pay attention because you will die quickly. Just try to hack a couple of objectives first and some other neutral Installation if the Reds are in the way. Some Red Berry shows up on the mini map, shoot like a frightened Kitten and run away. Not in a straight line, but towards cover.
Get a LAV and drive like a bunny to the uncontested end of the map. Hack something, run away and hack something else. This will cause the Reds to respond which can free up some of your Blues.
If you decide to Snipe be aware that many Mercs will come hunting these days. My primary character (this one) is a Sniper/Logi Bro. I also do anything that needs doing, Forge Gun, HAV Gunner, Hacking with 2 Hacker Modules and defending a position.
Sooner or later you will need to learn how to issue Squad Leader commands (look in Training Ground Forum) and assign defend to someone or something. Gives 20% boost for Squad members earning SP within some distance of the target. Squad Leader is assigned randomly. Check if you are one before deployment if you get the chance. Don't fret about it. There are too many things to learn right now anyway.
Lurk on the Training Grounds as there are many posts to help you better than this quick (but too long) blurb.
Have fun.

Funny, I really didn't think it was a question of winning, so much as the randomness of the matchmaking can swing wildly from one extreme to another.
How would the ubber elite win when CCP puts you into a Skirmish Battle in the Line Harvest Model; with 15 other players who are snipers from the start of the match. I should mention that the enemy felt so threatened they needed 4 tanks and a dropship; and yes I realize that it might have been the perfect opportunity to test out those vehicles with little chance of loss.
Then when you do have your own group of 4 going to give you 12 other players, who are snipers for the 5 point Skirmish.
I'd like to know when I will be able to determine my squad or team outside of corp battles, or are they locked this way in an attempt to prevent what I am seeing happening on a daily basis. Groups fill up on side and the other is filled with randoms, maybe small groups of 2.

What's your problem? Fcku you and don't be a douche bag!!!! You know - you are acting like a fool and he never used derogative terms like you are now. So calling someone else an ******* while acting like one yourself is... well... blue berry logic.
If you can't win you suck. It's not the games fault - half of everyone wins per game. It's your own. |
