as an alternative/higher level to the hmg, (after HMG skill is trained to 5) what about a handheld 20GJ Blaster for heavies? that'd be a cool weapon for heavies versed in handling anti personnel. this would be a T2 type weapon |

Hell I like that idea let heavies that max out proficiency for all heavy weapons. Start using small turrets. |

I'd much rather have the opposite: mounted heavy weapons.
Only to see how crazy the tankers would go over getting militia forged by Guristas Sagas lol. |

The hmg is minmatar and the blaster is gallente. A heavy slot portable blaster would be a nice addition.
Also both ar and shotgun are light slot plasma weapons. The blaster is like a big ar, what about a big shotgun in small turret, large turret, and heavy slot types? |

I think the Heavies should be able to eventually equip a Tri-pod module or gravity repulsors with inertial dampeners (futuristic Tripod) and have no kick, much better range and accuracy, and it would be a stationary heavy with shielding around the gun to prevent damage to come to the user from the front (not all damage, but some). This gun can alternate between the normal heavy, or the stationary turret. |

See the Resistance serie's Wraith gun: Basically a HMG with a shield - while shield is deployed, movement is severely restricted, and the shield has limited "life" (energy).
Makes for absolute murder, but can be beaten down, and would be an excellent upper-tier heavy weapon (note: I dont play heavy myself)

perhaps around 100-150 rounds, as the dpr would be higher and the rpm would be lower |

Sorry, let me explain myself as I posted that late at night:
There's a couple of reasons why I think this shouldn't happen. First is how the hell would you hold it? Look at their designs, and you will get what I mean. Second is, this would mess up balance aginst infantry and vehicles, as you would be able to use something so powerful; that's why they go on vehicles. BUT, if you have to deploy them (takes about 5 seconds) and you get a 60 degree turning radius, I will say yes. Also, they should have armor/shield barrier to protect you depending on race. |

most small turrets in DUST are fired in two ways. LAVs seem to have the soldier directly contact the weapon, in a hand position that resembles the twin-trigger grip design used so often in similarly used RL military weapons. HAVs and dropships use a sort of console and camera to remotely operate the turrets. You can see the dropships having the "console" area in the promo screenshots highlighting that particular position - and HAVs likely have the same consoles within their passenger area. That's not to say a Heavy couldn't wield one. Minmatar engineers might have a module that allows their Heavies to hack the console interface port of any turrets, then rip them off the mounts Halo-style. Heck, that system could BE a Matari heavy weapon - to balance having a vehicle turret, you fit the system in your H slot, spawn with just your sidearm, and have to find a turret to use on the field. Add a limited ammo counter once you've taken the turret, and the suggestion may be balanced enough to work in-game.
in short: >using the Matari resourcefulness, an ability to hack and steal any Small turret. >Module contents: hacking system, turret port, and Alien-style gyro-mount system. Turret not included. >Location: H slot. >Spawn with sidearm, have to find turret on the field. (calling in one is fine) >Rip it off the vehicle by looking at it, selecting your hacker, and pressing "fire" >Once turret is taken, very limited ammo. Can be resupplied only by Supply Depots. >Alternatively, could be forced to find another turret at 0 ammo. |

Ideas for new heavy weapons
Heavy Swarm Launcher - either a higher warhead count on launch or an increase in size of warhead - with the dumbfire launch option included for infantry suppression.
Man-portable morter - area suppresion mines or over-sized grenade launcher
