Anyone else think this system is idiotic?
"We want you to go to the surface and clear out the enemy presence so we can get the facilities for ourselves." "OK, will you be giving us any support with your giant space cannons? You're the one who'll benefit from me winning, not me." "Only if you do some of the things on this list of random combat related tasks enough times for the point value to be 2000." "...why?" "Because reasons."
Having a limited number makes more sense to me, but meh. |

So you basically want ships on eve too continuously fire down on the planet during our merc fights. = Rage quite |

Geth Massredux wrote:So you basically want ships on eve too continuously fire down on the planet during our merc fights. = Rage quite It could be cooler. Won't work for high sec (Keep the MCC Orbitals) but for EVE players...
1.) An equipment item that allows you to lase a target area for precision strikes from allied EVE players. This creates a lock on target in EVE that has a really tiny sig (So it takes a few seconds for the ship in EVE to lock on).
2). Without the laser targeting (above) the orbital bombardments from an EVE player (probably best in nullsec) are random throughout the map (Will be better when the map is larger). Just like artillery firing on positions. So it will cause chaos as the orbital rounds hit the ground. Will cause indiscriminate damage so foes and allies alike will be hit.
3). Eventually we will be able to place anti-orbital batteries (AOB) that will blast EVE ships out of orbit. This could allow random bombardments to happen in lowsec from EVE Destroyers and such. On the DUST side: being bombarded? Deploy anti-orbital batteries and shoot down that egger ****.
- - 3A). Just have the AOB, when deployed, shoot down any ship firing on the planet. This could allow random EVE players to show up and shoot at us randomly (they really want that). It would also provide a tactical installation for one side to defend / destroy.
-- #B). I would want to hear the rage when they show up in a decced out Destroyer to fire on some unsuspecting mercs. Only that when they finished locking on and activated their artillery a huge laser from the AOB fired from the planet and blew their ship in half. Would make firing on mercs randomly a risky move. |

The O.Bs's could be bought at a very high price maybe? It would have to be high enough that they are used sparingly. Or possibly a cost + lower point total to get one. The cost would be on the Merc corp side to prevent the ultra rich eve players from overdoing it. Of course that could ultimately fail if money transfer from Eve to Dust comes to fruition.
Personally, all logic aside, I don't mind the point system. Sure it doesn't make sense as far as the realities of war are concerned, but it seems like a fair way of carrying it out. |

When we saw it unveiled, the person playing said they had a COOLDOWN, but he was 'using DEV hackz' to spam them. Basically, I'm saying that the ships with the OB equipment need a long cycle time, like bombers have, and that's it. They can be called in at any time as long as there's a ship that can currently fire.
