Autocannons, Artillery, lasers. Heavy machine gun, mass driver, laser rifle...? Are these the models for the new turrets? Lets hear some ideas! |

I would really like a heavy laser gun for my weeble wobble heavy turret man... which does twice the damage of regular lasers but heats up faster and goes boom if heated too much. |

Here's what I would like to see:
Railguns - Small and large, I like them pretty much how they are.
Blasters - I'd like to see these function more as vehicle-mounted shotguns. Short ranged, high damage, like they are in EVE
Autocannons - These should take the role basters currently occupy.
Artillery - Take on the role of indirect fire, as their name would indicate. Mortar type stuff for the smalls, full-on cannon artillery for the larges. Ideally there should be a weapon or piece of equipment allowing a forward scout to mark a location so that it is easier for an artillery user to hit that point.
Beam Lasers - Should work similarly to the current laser rifle, putting out a beam that can damage anyone that steps through it.
Pulse Lasers - Should have a charge-up mechanic not unlike the railgun, putting out a wide laser burst.
Rockets - Same as missiles currently work, single missile for smalls, multiple small missiles for a large.
Missiles - Small missiles would serve as user guided missiles, where after you shoot the direction you turn your turret indicates the direction the missile turns. Turn radius needn't be great, just enough to help hit your target. Large missiles should function like cruise missiles, upon firing them your camera changes to that of the missile and you pilot it to the target. |

All turrets should have limited ammunition, and ammo replenishment should be added as a feature to give more depth to vehicle usage. Spamming weapons fire should not be encouraged.
As for turret types, once they add in their listed turret types we'll see what niches remain and go from there. |

I agree with your opinion on blasters. They're too much like single barrel machine guns. Shorter range would be ok, but not too much, at least for large turrets mounted on a slow armor tank. There should be some sort of splash for them. In EVE, the blaster Sfx is noticeably wider and covers more area when hitting another vessel.
For autocannons I think it would act like double barrel assault rifle with dispersion and much faster rounds/s than current blasters. This leads me to think we might see compact double barrels in all turret types. Just an idea.
Current missiles are rockets and real missiles should act similar to SLs, definitely, but with less swarming and more direct homing on larges.
I'm not too sure on pulses but from playing armored core I like that system. Small fast firing pulses of energy with an almost minute splash aoe. |
