So i was browsing the threads and came upon one that complained of radar difficulties (Something about lobbing grenades and getting shot at by a ghost, i dont know) but it concerned the use of radar.
After some brainstorming ( and a cup of coffee) i had an idea:
Implement an radar system that tracks all gunfire in the map with the electronic signatures of our dropsuits.
to put it simpler, Every shot you make "compromises" your general location; marking your position for all to see, and that after a while you disappear off the map again. this is when skilling into scan profile is most effective in creating a stealth fitting should this feature ever be considered, and adds another part of the sandbox game-play CCP wishes to create.
Different suits have different signatures combined with the different weapons we have available to us via the market.
say for instance, a scout suit with nova knives ( I'm looking at you Maken Tosch) would literally be a ghost, but once spotted would be easy to take down due to the low shields, and armor for the scout suit. plus when he attacks he would be adding an element to stealth to it compared to a scout with a shotgun (Looking at you Calamity Jane), the dropsuit would be hard to detect but the weapons they carry have a factor in the detection of said player due to simply the audio signature.
Note: Every shot you make literally determines whether you live or die (Most likely violently).
so the list would be ranging just by detection status:
Low radar signatures: SMG Pistol Nova Knives Scout Dropsuits
Mid range Radar signatures Assault rifle Shotgun Sniper rifle Assault Dropsuits Logistics Dropsuits
High Radar signatures: Heavy Machine Gun Swarm Launcher Forge Gun Laser Rifle Heavy dropsuits
Grenades and remote explosives are always remote or based on a timer ( an extremely short one) so by the time you figure it out, your already dead. plus with the hopeful incoming of weapon customizations and suppressors.
I know some of you are thinking ( what of a heavy with a forge gun or even an hmg?) well that's bad news for them, they would be a constant blip on the radar yadda yadda dot dotta. but in my opinion it'll also add an element of surprise. imagine seeing in your local radar one simple heavy, spraying aroundin indiscriminately, you decide to sneak up on him, hoping for the pounce. you turn the corner and bam, 5 dots pounce at once. you die but in your radar, those 5 dots after a while, Vanish. of course they would be spotted when you actually see them, but when they are not painting the ground with lead and plasma they remain undetected unless seen otherwise. thats about as much as i will say, please put your input for or against this idea and if can, please explain why. hopefully i might draw attention to the devs and might encourage them to see its input.
Good luck and safe hunting! |

Understandable but i dont think that if you shoot it should pin point you to enemies to have a blip appear on radar that varies in size depending on how loud the the noise was basicly the louder the more accurate and over greater range they will be revealled,
What about movement detectors they have been in games before including mag and Bad company 2, basicly this combined with audio scanners would be good at locating careless targets who always run around letting stealthy characters to get the jump on them by having more intel, again weight of suit and modules would affect this with scouts being harder to hear, then assults, logies then finally heavies
I dont care for the whole oh i got shot by someone who wasnt on the radar opinion, it just sounds to me like they didnt check there flanks if someone got the jump on you chances are they falnked you that is 90% of the time the fault of the guy who got jumped.
I also think that visual spotting should be made manual rather than auto i find it sometimes detects people i didnt actually notice, maybe some sort of scan button that works simular to a spot button in battlefield |
