I'm inquiring about players' experiences with the controller and have since ventured into playing Dust with either the Playstation move with the Sharpshooter gun thingy, or Keyboard and Mouse -- and what discrepancies they've noticed between them?
I've only played dust with the Controller, got pretty good with sniping early this summer in closed beta. However, I'd like to put the YEARS of counter strike to use by utilizing the keyboard and mouse or maybe even the experience garnered from playing Buck Hunter drunk at bars in lieu of the Dualshock controller.
So please share your thoughts, comments, concerns about each here if you'd please cause I'd like to try one of the alternate methods of shooting people in the face, and am not sure which to go for first.
If a post with this information exists please point me in that direction, I did look, albeit not very deep, but still didn't find a thread with the information I seek.
Much appreciated! |

KB/M (needs fixed) = Playing with another persons config another persons sensitivity and then fighting some kind of what feels like a dead zone or fighting aim assist when sighted in ..
I was really looking forward to KB/M too be it im a huge PC FPS fan, I resorted back to the controller because I was able to get way better accuracy with it..
Haven't tried the move |

I like keyboard and mouse, but prefer the controller for vehicles and turrets.
I tried the sharpshooter and could builds ago. It was awful, truly terrible. Put it down and haven't touched it since. |

Started using the mouse and keyboard recently. It's interesting to use. I feel more accurate with it. Due to being able to have fine grain control and being able to whip around super fast is extremely useful. I find the analog sticks on the DS3 too loose. Hard for me to get find grain control unless the sensitivity is super, super low and then I sacrifice the ability to quickly whip around.
My biggest gripe about all of the controls is the inability to remap the buttons. Unless I am not seeing an option. Which would be embarrassing. I hate the fact the grenade throw option is a trigger. WHY!? Let me change it. |

The move/sharpshooter needs dead one adjustments and modal turn mode. What they have now doesn't even have a floating reticle for any ads views. It seems like an afterthought |

I play with a Keyboard and Mouse and I have my sensitivity turned all the way up. It is not high enough yet. I like the accuracy but the shaking seems to be induced. I have a high DPI gaming mouse which I turned to the highest DPI for this game. In all other games I turn faster but in this game it seems slow. I am still more accurate with the Mouse and Keyboard but the DS3 allows for more flexibility in my mobility. |

Much appreciated! As far as mouse goes, I read somewhere that ps3 ticks in at 2000dcpi natively. I swapped around from MS sidewinder mouse to razer deathadder that is configured to 1800/3600. Huge difference at 1800; doesn't miss movements like MS.
Keyboard typing is horrible compared to pc, and you cannot customize the default wasd. The mail system takes a lot of getting used to on kb. People have good experiences on Logitech kb I hear.
Putting the years of cs into use here, too bad it was 15 years ago :) |

I appreciate all the feed back. I'm probably going to go off that KB/M list of working mouse/keyboards and grab a wireless logi combo. Again, thanks for all the feedback! |

PlayStation move is not bad actually. It's fairly usable, and with practice, perhaps rather good. The main issue, is the tiny asking for when in ads. It can be nigh impossible to see when moving across light background. It needs to be a little more visible. Perhaps larger, or somethng like this.. ! - O - ! |

My keyboard/mouse works will with Dust. It used to have my mouse locked at the highest sensitivity, and Dust wasn't playable with it, but this build it's great. I enjoy playing Dust as infantry a lot more now.
That said, the keybindings are a bit dumb. Having the scores button (Tab) right next to the weapon dial button (Caps Lock) means sometimes dying because you brought up the score screen instead of selecting a piece of equipment or whatever. The score screen, like most Dust menus, takes a number of seconds to load and then close.
As well, Push To Talk (Z) doesn't work. And the buttons are inconsistent. Sometimes the E key represents the O button on the gamepad, sometimes it doesn't.
In short, while I find KB+M pretty good right now and very playable, I really need to be able to redefine the keybinds. |
