This game is about multiplayer and I am aware of that, but I still thought a single player campaign would be cool, but now to make it fit into the Eve universe. The people in eve watch movies right?( I know the capsuleers don't) When your merc watches the movie though, he is put into the main character's body and plays through the movie in a first person view. These movies would be short-ish, between 1 to 2 hours, with huge battles and awesome set pieces. Not to mention your merc only likes war movies.
This would also be well after release.
They would only be for fun and no isk or sp would be earned. |

How about just a simulation? Would be cool with rogue drones and stuff. |

the only worry here is accusations of a themepark MMO, which is one the players of EVE hammer on CONSTANTLY.
I do, however advocate a campaign storyline that is used as a tutorial to train new players in the full use of the DUST interface. One of the big problems CCP has is the New Player Experience. Dust, like EVE has a learning cliff. But I think it's reasonable to have a tutorial campaign that you can play and earn things like a little ISK to get started, your first (class-related) dropsuit skillbook and an idea of how the game works. Rogue drones make a perfect badguy to do this, as well as do the survival mode. |

CCP is planning to bring in some PvE missions at some point.
I'd rather have them iron out the PvP side then work on the PvE, as there is still quite a bit of work that needs to be done, but they are getting there. |

I agree with you.
Unfortunately i have to disagree with you based on one thing: new players. New players need to be able to learn how to utilize the game functions. PvP is, and will always be, hardmode no matter what game you play. Living, thinking opponents will always trump bots. new players dropped in the shark tank in EVE have an average life expectancy of less than one week unless they have a very patient person explaining how things work as they go.
DUST average lifespan of a player will be slightly longer, but without some support and experimentation New players will not be able to effectively learn how an armor or shield tank works, or realize that a DPS tank is an entirely valid approach.
Edit: I DO, however, believe that anyone using the tutorial missions as a "grief free" zone should only gain enough ISK per mission to replace a reasonable number of militia suits. Team survival modes should be comparable to pub matches as it's still multiplayer, and the real rewards come from PvP. My two cents. |
