Some of you may not care about stats of you or your corpies or recruits, but I like to look around the leaderboard at my contacts and other logi to compare my 'effectiveness' and proficiency. These could also be for analyzing a potential recruit. Here are a few of the things you can derive from the few stats that we currently have from the leaderboards.
TL;DR: With some arithmetic you CAN compare apples and oranges. Which is important, because you don't really want logis to have INSANE K:DR or heavies who spend a lot of time doing much more than suppressing/decimating the enemy. Current stats:
Warpoints- Shows how valuable a player is. The higher, then the more likely they are an active/richer player. K/D- shows how effective and efficient of a killer a player is. Maybe corresponds to skill, but favors the /heavy/snipers, doesn't reflect the type of 'support' a player provides. kills- need I say more... Wins- I think only in the corp version of the win/loss table. I am unsure how this is aggregated. It could be a sum of individual or squad wins. Win/loss ratio- Probably average of all of corp members. The higher, the more valuable the team or player is to the corp/match.
Derived stats:
Base Killer Index (BKI) =(warpoints)/(kills) The closer the 'killer index' is to 50 the more likely this player is getting points from just kills. Every point above 50 is something else that player is doing for the team 'between kills'.
Deaths=Kills/KDR. Maybe this is obvious to the math savvy but I have a feeling it isn't so obvious to others.
Net WP or NWP=(WP)-50*deaths. The more times you have died, the more clones you have lost the more points you give to the other team. For people with similar kills but much different KDR will see a divergence here. A person with a negative NWP score will be giving more points to the other team, through deaths, than they will be getting the team. However, this still doesn't mean that they may not be doing more damage (in isk) than they are losing. An example of this could be a grenade spammer.
Merc Value=(NWP/kills). This is basically a stat you can use to compare supporting logis, to camping snipers, to brawling heavies. A logi with a BKI of 110 and K:DR of .75 is roughly similar to a good assault player with a BKI of 55 and K:DR of 4.5. Both have a Merc Value of about 43.
A player with a very high K:DR and very low BKI is probably a good assault/sniper player, who plays a lot of ambush maps, and doesn't carry a nanite injector. A K:DR of ~1 and medium (75-100) BKI is either a mediocre assault player or a better than average logi player.
A high K:DR AND BKI is difficult to do, but is somebody who is hacking capturing objectives, obeying squad orders, getting a fair amount of kills, and providing plenty of support with their equipment slot. More than likely this is a deadly logi player.
::Note:: These stats may be deflated or inflated depending on the types of battles people like to play. Its difficult for non-logi, abush oriented players to get much over an NWP over 90. |

Oh! Awesome, I will. And I hope that mercs get APIs sometime also. I doubt it would be difficult to implement. |

We are currently waiting on the deployment of the Crest API system, and are in discussion with the devs on the team working on that system |

Meh, WP doesn't say anything. A scrub can run around with a scout suit and cap all day, doesn't make him good.
I and many like me hit the cap after an hour or so and couldn't give a crap about WP. I'd rather cover someone's back than getting the hack myself...
KDR says a lot, but far from all. The only sure way to judge a player is to play with them and see how they do and respond to different scenarioes. |

I agree, but statistics do help by allowing you to send the right kind of recruiters to play with them. |

I agree the most with your last sentence. What would be nice is a way to figure out how many games a person has played. You can't find that somewhere can you? I'm not at home so I can't look but, being able to figure out average WP/game would be nice.
Just wait, too, for when Eve Corps start hiring Dust Corps, then people will start paying attention to stats and that will be the only thing that we will be able to point to, to show our abilities to them. People won't want to hire a team with a little experience ( ~warpoints) or a lousy record (corp K:dr and W/L).
Soon stats will relate VERY directly to income. Once we can transfer isk, you can probably be expected to be paid a certain wage for your participation in FW battles based on stats. If you start to whine and say "but I'm the guy that always is standing guard to protect the guy capping" you are probably doing something wrong and won't get paid as well. |
