Has anyone started working on something like this? I'm dying to tinker with drop suit fittings and vehicle fittings offline so I can plan my training and craft some theories. |

Fitting in DUST isn't that complex as in EVE. Number of dropsuits is less (compared to ships), number of slots is less and number of modules is less. Number of skills is less as well. |

A Dust version of pyfa would also be a welcome tool. |

I agree, so it would be a bit easier to write the Dust version.
It's still true, though, that you can't try out a fitting if you don't already own the modules or have the skills, so the tool would be quite useful. |

I think we are just waiting on the API, or API's or whatever. |

Not yet at least. Wait until we get more dropsuit variants, more modules, and more varied slots. Not to mention more skill books in the long run.
Eve Online may be really complex, but it wasn't that complex back in 2003. Number of ships were extremely limited to the point where your only mining vessel was your Rohk, T3 ships were not even thought up yet, T2 ships were just barely in developers' imagination, and population was so low that you could roam null-sec non-stop for hours and not run into anyone.
Also, the tools we take for granted today were not available back then.
http://eve-search.com/ <-------- Eve version of Google Search http://www.eve-files.com/ <-------- Eve version of Cloud Storage Eve Fitting Tool (EFT) of course EveMon <------- A tool that enabled you to monitor the skill progression, wallet, and assets of your character offline.
Note: Chribba is the one you should thank for Eve-Search and Eve-Files.
Don't worry. Once the API system is made public, I'm pretty sure every Eve/Dust third-party developer and their grandma are gonna jump on it. |
