Dont know if this is an undocumented feature or an oversite, but I was playing the other night and my character started acting funny, couldn't figure out why i was randomly turning, or shooting or moving or throwing granades, after a few moments of what the heck...i noticed my 4 year old had a ps3 controller and had turned it on... both controllers were controlling my character in the battle. Quite funny once i figured it out, and it can be repeated. |

There is a general input "bug" (feature) in Dust514, where it doesn't isolate input to a single controller/set (1x DS3 / 2x Move / KB+Mouse) - this causes various problems. Has been known for at least 6 months, is apparently meant to be that way.

It is known, god forbid you want to charge your second controller. The menus are unusable.
Also, it is not standard behavior. This is the only game I have that fails when more than one input device is plugged in. Some body has either implemented the input stack incorrectly or enabled incorrectly.
Sometimes the keyboard, if you aren't using it, will cause problems as well.
Additionally, again Dust 514 specific, older controllers will work in other games but will fail consistently in Dust.
Finally had to buy a new controller. Just for this game nothing else needed it. |

I bought a new controller too but it did not fix the odd control issues, it just changed them to something else... now I can't run for more than a few seconds |

Try one of the following: 1) Unplug EVERYTHING else than the bare minimum needed to play 2) Write to CCP and remind them that the input-feature (by now it is too old to be a bug) is really annoying |

They could just make the correct decision and it would work. Like every other game in my PS3 collection. I can play a game and charge another controller without adverse effects in every single one of them except Dust514.
Meant that way. Hah. |

CCP's entire DS3 implementation is horrible. they need to rework the whole thing. i had no idea of some of the issues you all report but my issues are just that the controller is not as responsive as other games... its frustrating. |

There is a point in a software/hardware bug's life, where it stops being a bug, and becomes a feature - I think this particular one has crossed that point, seeing as reports of it on this forum goes back to at least July 2012. |

Before 'bug' (july) , there was painful to make eg. fit with pad and play with keyboard/mouse. You must always change to 'gamedevice one' and make what you want.
Now every device can do same.
It is easy now to play with keyboard and mouse and fast change to pad without changing PS3 configuration (menu or hardware switching).
If this is bug for you that kid/cat/dog use your seccond devices, I recomend send petition to CCP and they remove kid/cat/dog from your place. |

Is a problem that we cannot have anything else connected to the PS3 without controls being messed up:
- Use a Sony Playstation headset? Controls resetting constantly, unable to play
- Have a Sony Playstation Move camera? Controls resetting randomly, unable to play
- Have a Sony Playstation Dualshock controller that is charging? Controls resetting randomly, unable to play
- Have other USB devices connected? Controls resetting randomly, unable to play.
Edit: Other thread indicates that using Virtual Surroundsound in #1 is part of the issue. Edit: To be clear, the issues are not constant, but often enough that they are game-breaking.
Problem is that CCP seemingly forgot to properly enumerate input devices, and then ignore those devices that aren't needed, in their input handler. Instead it seems that their input handler will take all unknown events and use them to reset actions such as running, walking, aiming, charging a forge-gun or hacking. Basically, if you have anything extra attached to your PS3, you can give up on playing the game half the time.
The fact that this half-arsed input-handler was done to accommodate mouse+keyboard players doesn't matter - it is still half-arsed, even if it benefits you. Your observation that this is from a change in July also matches my findings on the forum: Posts about this "feature" dates back to at least July.
Note: My PS3 is part of a fixed installation, and I'm not going to unplug/plug-in stuff just to play 1 game. |

Not quite...
I have 1. third party controler with mouse and keyboard (so very strange config for PS3) 2. standard PS3 controler 3. Sony head set (no lags, no problem with rerset configuration, only 'bug' that i have is different level od sound when charging)
All working smooth, execpt case of new build that I must recalibrate. |
