I've not seen the notice when you try to log in during downtime or extended downtimes, I'm usually in work or busy at weekends.
Do you think there is enough information in there for new players to understand why they can't log in on 22nd or soon after ?
Does it just say "The server is unavailable" or is there information about daily downtimes and the possibilty they may be extended and an address for the forums to find out more.
Just thought it might help inform new players before they say "Can't even log in, this is junk ... delete" |

There's just an exclusive announcements section at the top of the forum, highly visible, with upcoming or current extended downtime threads sticked so they remain at the top of the thread list at all times, so anyone with a pair of eyeballs embedded in their respective sockets can see them.

And you have to view the forum before you download the game and try to log in during downtime do you ?
Can someone answer the question please ...
Is there enough information in the DUST client to point new players towards the forum during downtimes to find out why they can't log in ? |

Unfortunatly CCP can't implement to the client just yet due to localisation issues. Different languages etc.
I asked this once before... way back... during E3... |

I asked this once before... way back... during E3... Do you mean the ability to view the forum from the console ?
I'm more concerned about new comers after the 22nd trying to log in during downtime and being told "The server is not available".
If that's the limit of the message people will just think it's unreliable and not worth their time.
There needs to be (if there's not already) a message on the lines of ...
"Sorry, the server is undergoing daily maintenance. Daily downtime lasts 30 mins and begins at 11:00 GMT. If you continue to experience connection problems, Check forums.dust514.com for information on any 'extended' downtimes." |

There is a pop up window announcing the downtime server as a follow: every 1 hour, 30 minutes and 15 minutes. If the server is down for any reason, there is always a message that explains the situation; please note that the message say something like: 'if you need help please contact support at [email protected]'
So the player will have an answer if he contact us via petition system.

You do realize a tiny subset of gamers even know about official forums, let alone visit them? A forum posting is not a proper way to inform your customers. |

Rather than encumbering the tech support personnel and cause frustration and confusion among your customers, would it not make sense to put a "server is down for daily routine maintenance at this time. Scheduled daily maintenance is between xx and yy seven days a week" in three or eleven languages? Can't be that hard.
Just a thought. I'm sure you'll sav... put out of work at least one highly paid tech support guy in Shanghai with this. |

Thanks for the reply Hercules, just worried some may be put off if there isnt a decent explaination why the can't log in, especially if it's the first time they try after downloading the client.
If you think it's as good as you can get it, then fine, just thought it was worth checking to see if it could be more informative or helpful in any way. |
