By the time the laser eats through the shields, it would heat up enough to eat through the armor just as fast. Armor is bad the way it is, giving it some situational advantage against laser like what you did with flux nades isn't a bad idea in my opinion. |

are you armor or shield tanking? I'm just a laser user and I can def tell a diffrence when hitting an armor tank or a shield tank. If your shield tanked with default armor buffer, damn straight you'll melt, by the time we're on your armor we're already at max heat build up for damage. |

Generally, "tank" in a first-person-shooter isn't meant to survive an extended bombardment, unless you're a Heavy. It's really meant to save your hide while you get into cover and shoot around it like a good soldier. I haven't seen this behavior much at all, which is saddening - people always think they're invincible, and run right in the open. blame it on games where the first to shoot is the winner, as cover never did much in those games. With laser rifles, the time it takes to kill is shorter when the shooter knows how to keep it right on you, so you should've already been in cover. Also remember that the LR needs to have an advantageous position to kill with any ease. Once you know where he is, avoid his sight and try to sneak up on him, as he's going to miss most of the time in close quarters. Preferably with a shotgun or Nova Knife in hand. However, your original argument about armor tanking is valid - but this is more of a case of all non-Heavy suits preferring shield tanking. Once we get an Amarr assault suit, things will be a little better. And for reference, the Scout is a speed tank, which in DUST means darting between cover, preferably when the other guy isn't looking. For now, those who want to armor-tank will be happiest in a Heavy suit, with an HMG in their hands - those things absolutely murder when you've gotten to mid-range to the enemy. And they're supposed to, simply because they're a heavy-class anti infantry weapon. |
