I have three very basic questions regarding the eve-dust link. I help run a large corporation in Eve and need some guidance on this stuff.
Please do not flame me if this is explicitly stated somewhere already, I have already read pages and pages and cannot find the answer. A simple link will suffice.
1. Are the mercs we hire from Dust into our Eve corporation technically, in name, members of the Eve corporation? If that's true, how would it be possible to have a CEO of a preexisting corporation in Eve Online be present in Dust?
2. Are the names from Eve reserved (ie mutually exclusive) from Dust because in the future our Merc and Eve pilot can be the same person? To put it another way, my eve pilot's name is "taken" on the Dust server already, naturally I'm assuming I'll be able to use my Eve capsuleer as an infantryman, could be way off though.
3. How far out are we from being able to bring a merc corp from Dust into an Eve alliance?
I would be very appreciative of any answers on this since I have capsuleers and infantry banging down my door about when and how this is all going to work. |

As to the second question, I doubt EVE or Dust characters will ever be able to perform the function of the other. If you go to the EVE community website, you'll notice a news post talking about compatibility issues between the Jove made capsule system and Sleeper made ship components. As the implants in our clones that let us do our immortality thing are Sleeper tech, I doubt you'll ever see EVE players down on the ground, or Dust players flying ships in space. |

EVE and Dust share the same universe. So you are present in New Eden in both games, share the chat features of both games, etc. Its just that a Dust director/CEO doesn't have/need all the roles in the EVE game, so it might be best to have an EVE CEO to run the show for the Dust guys.
For example, I am putting any Dust guys into my EVE corp, which my main runs. The Dust guys do their own thing and can talk in Corp chat if they want.

EVE and Dust character names can not be the same. Nor can corp names. As far as everything CCP has said, Capsuleers won't be Dust mercs.

You can put an EVE char as the CEO of a corp, apply it to an alliance and then hand CEO back to the Dust character. You will not, however, have access to the Alliance chat, yet. |

Thank you both, I guess last question I'm unsure about is are the infantry who've applied to my corporation showing the Eve Corporation as their corp in Dust?
Or are they just like, guests or something?
If they are present, how do we promote up infantry on the ground into position of authority in Dust from Eve remotely? |

Hey,
It is really important to keep in mind that these two games now exist in the same universe on the same server. So all names, corporations, alliances, solar systems, and all other entities are the same thing. Not copies, not anything but the same thing in the same database in the same server.
So when a DUST player joins a corporation, they are in that corporation. It does not matter if the corporation has an EVE or DUST CEO, it is just a corporation. The CEO being a DUST or EVE player will change what can be done administratively, but other then that they are the same thing.
I am not sure I know what you mean about promoting DUST players into positions of authority. Right now DUST players can be members, directors, or CEO's of corporations. So if you are an EVE CEO running a corporation with DUST players in it you can give DUST players the Director role.
I hope that helps. :) |

My pilot is the CEO of a small Minmatar FW corporation. Basically, a placeholder until I have the time to focus on it again. My pilot set this mercenary to be a director. I don't see anything different in DUST and have never seen anything under corporation battles. What has to happen for me to see action under the corporation battle tab? Not that I'll accept one with just two current members but I like to know how the process works.
FYI, this merc transferred to the EVE corp on the day we moved to TQ and was immediately given Director status.
