I'm feeling weirdly constructive about SP
All right folks, most of us don't like the way the cap works, and most of us believe the cap per week/month is valid and necessary to keep people from bumrush maxing out all skills and being ubergod in what is intended to be a long-term game.
Let's consolidate ideas for valid fixes here and give all of the DEVs our ideas. Rules for posting are as follows:
1. No trolling. This is a constructive post to help solve a problem. I myself will refrain from trolling anyone who posts constructively in this thread. In any other thread, all bets are off.
2. Read the thread to make sure your idea hasn't been posted by someone else. If it has, please add a Like to it. If you see a workable thing here, add a like to it.
3. If you would like to expand upon an idea, don't copypasta quote. Link the post and add your suggested addendum.
4. If you see a way that someone's idea can be easily exploited, please link the post with the poster's name and explain the exploit potential.
5. Do not post unless you have something to add here. We are all well aware that there is a perceived problem. We don't need to hear it more, so if you post, a constructive idea to solve said problem is mandatory.
6. If you have made a post with ideas on how to solve the issue please repost here with the date the proposed fix was originally posted.
B.S. (You may troll yourself, just not others) proposed solution:
The original weekly cap had it's strengths and weaknesses.
The strength was that it allowed casual players to get their fix in without being dialled into playing the game every day to maintain parity with hardcores and kept them able to play around work schedules.
The weakness was the diminishing return seen that was a massive turnoff for people to play through. Being forced to run 20 battles to squeeze out that last bit of SP cap wasn't fun and added very little when taking into account the fact that there was no other reward compensation to offset the dedication to play beyond the cap limit.
My proposals are A: fold active SP totally into passive and let time be the trainer and let ISK, Loyalty Points and Salvage opportunities be the reward.
or:
B: return to the weekly cap but lower the maximum SP per battle to 10,000-12,000 (pre-booster) with no diminishing returns. Once the cap is hit Active SP shuts off for the week, and a reward of 50 ISK per warpoint should be awarded as a bonus to continue playing in addition to a flat 5% increase in ISK rewards. that way people who hit 1000 WP would gain an additional 50,000 ISk and a person who earned 200k ISK in a battle would earn an additional 10,000. Enough to buy an additional advanced dropsuit basically.
I'm proposing being stingy with the rewards because the words "ISK faucet" come to mind, but once ISK transfers between EVE and DUST open up ISK earned per battle will become a secondary concern at best, so I believe we have quite a lot of reasonable wiggle room here.
In closing, the difference between hardcores and casuals should be how many expensive assets they can bring to bear all at once, rather than measured in raw skill points in my opinion. |
