I own a 2008 fat boy console. It has worked fine with no functionality issues before I started playing the dust closed beta in June.
I, like many other testers, have suffered through innumerable hard system freezes because of this dust beta software since then.
During the Chromosone update, Dust, and subsequently all games on my ps3 have become increasingly unstable. I can launch dust and do just about everything in the game except play matches. Playing the actual game causes my system to hard freeze rapidly. Can't go a single match w/o locking.
In order to participate in continued gameplay I began using my son's 2006 ps3 as of 10jan13. His console has never had an issue with freezes. This morning during a skirmish match it froze.
CCP, despite what anyone would like to suggest, is causing the degradation and eventual complete disfunction of PS3 hardware with thier faulty beta code.
You may be experiencing only the occasional lock up now but give it time. You too will be out a console and Sony will only stand to gain from ccp's irresponsible actions. |

Don't get me wrong. I am not quitting. CCP and Sony will be getting exactly what they want out of me. I will be purchasing a brand new console when I can scrape the $ together.
But I want to state for the record that CCP caused this and Sony supports it. Thier software has caused untold # of hard system freezes to my system. I have rebooted, re-installed, reformatted...everything.
This would seem an excellent way to generate new hardware purchases for Sony...use crappy code to slowly degrade system performance across the spectrum of older hardware...eventually breaking those consoles and forcing players to buy new. |

Don't f'ing preach @ me Noraa. I know wtf I am about. Did I not just say that I will be buying a new system because of this? I am an adult; I know it is my choice to keep rebooting every time Sony and CCP crash the system. I know that doing so accelerated the breakdown of the hardware.
I was just posting the details here in case someone who may experience similar damages is curious how it came about. Thanks for your helpful input. |

I would just like to adhere to DTOracle's feedback above and assume this is bad timing on an old system
It's too isolated an event to really be a systematic issue.
Always feels better to blame a 2 outter on something other than variance.
It's just that sometimes the 2 outter hits during the week closed beta goes to TQ after you've struggled along with an aging system since fanfest2012. |
