I 100% support larger squads. Larger Squads enable you to play with more of friends and augment the whole competitive nature of the game. More players requires more team work. However, what I do NOTsupport is increasing Squads size to Pubstomp more effectively.
So that being said, I think this how Matching making should go, and it adds onto what Proto has been saying.
Matchmaking should be broken down in to two Systems:
Ranked Matchmaking and Social Matchmaking/ Un-ranked
Ranked Ranked, is what I consider the Big leagues. Players who want step away from the causal stance into a more competitive field, then FW is your gate way. In order for this to work, I think you should at least need enter with a minimum of 8 players to be to even enter the playlist. I think 8 is a good number because that at least prevents the Zerg corps from going 16v Random player.s/groups. One would assume, or I should say one hopes , that a squad of 8 is atleast organized enough to point and shoot
Now many people will say, "why would I even waste my time with Ranked when I have Social ." I would agree we need Incentive:
- 8+ Squad ups - Higher Isk return -FW Proficiency Rating(RANKS) -Fraction Gear -Sp Same
For more detail: 1. INCREASE IN ISK PAYOUT -More money Makes me MOAR HAPPY $_$
2. FW RANKS/PROFICIENCY RATING - Who wouldn't want to go into a public war room, and have fancy FW rank beside his name. All noobs would say, "whats dat :0 thingy. I'm SO JELLY" and You would of course answer, "Being a @#$%^&*$R#@!W BADASS in Fraction War"
3. FRACTION GEAR - Gear only attainable through playing FW/Rank. Again you could show Off your Gear to noobs. I know you MMO Vets love to show off his ultra rare gear just ask any DCUO player.
Ranked it not for everyone, only those who are willing to step up their game to the next level
Social Basically what we have now. I think 4-squad is enough because in all honesty four players in a 16 player team can make a huge difference. Social is the experience for the casual not the hardcore, and I really don't want to see a 16 man team of Zion going its "ZERGN TIME" to some fresh noobies . Furthermore, Social allows players to test their gear/ load outs before going into FW/RANKED. Moreover, this playlist can be used for Warming up or blowing off steam for the hardcore players.
What we have have now is integration between a ranked and social playlist without forcing a player division, which also augments competitive play . Anyways thats all I got. Feel free to bash my idea |
