Seriously, I almost blinded myself today. I'm not sure what map it is, but all I know is that the sun on said map is extremely bright. I had to walk to the objective sideways to avoid my eyes being melted out. Its BF3 all over again! |

Have to admit there are spots you can snipe down with the sniper or laser while the sun is blinding the other guy

Love the sun. When they remove the redlines and open the map up it will allow a commander to dictate from which direction they attack. When attacking with it at your back it would be a big advantage over the defenders. |

it's the plateau map and it's not a sun it's a quasar
An overload of hot gas falling into a black hole causes huge jets of energy known as quasars, a phenomenon so bright that they can out shine an entire galaxy. |

Now all we need is an assault rifle variant with the tactical sun attachment
Or perhaps make it a secondary firing effect for the laser weapons? |

First it was "the lamp-posts are overpowered". and then it was "the sun is overpowered."
I for one think our super-soldier bodies with advanced future technology that lack a light filter are just underpowered. |

I hope CCP's "mood" system accommodates for the orbits of the planets we fight on, as they can vary wildly. Planets 100-AU from the star should always seem to be at night no matter the time, and a 0.1 AU orbit should get an ultra-blinding sun - granting a steep advantage to strategists that know how to use it.
P.S. when DUST gets to enter WH systems, i'd love it if the "hazard" that sets the background (wolf-rayet, black hole, etc.) were highly visible in the night sky, would make for an awesome backdrop. |

For balance purposes, the sun should move (if it stays like this). What I mean is, by the end of the battle, it should be at a completely different angle than the start of the battle. |

The main problem I have with it is when it makes it hard to see if the guy i'm looking at is ally or foe, then the question comes if I should hit them or not with whatever weapon I got. plus I would love to see some weather, the only weather I have seen so far if lightning storms and dust and dirt blowing around, I would like to see rain, snow or maybe even pies if it would make things interesting! |

Uh, no, I'm pretty sure in the year 30,000 they've invented sunglasses. What's the point of having a crazy space soldier helmet that doesn't even have eye-holes if the glare from the sun can still blind you? |

I like the sun brightness, does not hinder my gameplay, and I find it beautiful. I would also like stuff like fog effects to limit vision for some maps; would make things interesting. |

The sun is bright, yes. But still acceptable within the game's playstyle.
But just make the bright area a tad smaller please: it should not cover half of my screen. |

Yes! Yes! Just like that time when we fought the Prussians. With our muskets. And calvary on horseback. And had the sun behind us and totally kicked some ass.
I don't accept that even the Minamatar haven't yet invented better light filtering coatings or lenses for dropsuit helmets than what we fight with now.
We see the world through cameras (most likely) and my phone camera does a better job adjusting to the sun than our suits.

This is DUST 514, FPS for the future, shouldn't we have a built in solar lense to filter this out?!
I say forget the Ray Bans, give me a pair of Oakleys Polarized, not to mention it's a polycarbonate lense that makes it's very malleable to a point where it's shatter resistant! |

I am afraid I have to agree. When I first read this post I didn't think it was a big deal. Well, you sun has set on that position.
I am an immortal running around in a ton of metal and a face visor that cannot auto-correct for Sun Flare (Trumpets!). I know that showing Sun Flare (Trumpets!) is Uber Cool programming wise but it nearly makes me exit the battle. I probably will next time.
Pat the fancy pants programmer on the back, buy them some chocolate cheesecake and fix my very expensive visor to auto-correct the tint. All while saving cycles on the GPU. |
