Ice blindingly white lavs have almost no traction Temperate- Add variations to the weather (heavy storms at night would make the lazor awrsome) Less mountains more hills Rivers/forests/deserts moar nature less grey Urban settings tight corridors and streets SPAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCEEEEEEEE |

Criticism to Original Post: Gas Giants, at their surface, actually have much less gravity than their size would suggest. Lava Planets? Surprisingly cooler than you might think. They have a thin atmosphere, and most of the lava planet is actually just rock, and our dropsuits protect us from most heat that we do receive. Storm planets do have storms, but visibility is fair. Less than a temperate planet, but still doable. Have you ever been in such a heavy storm that you couldn't see past a fifth of a football field? Yeah. That's what I thought. The density and opacity of the atmosphere has far more to do with visibility than wind speed, clouds, or thunder. Plasma storms have pretty standard weather apart from the plasma storms that OCCASIONALLY occur, don't have a dense atmosphere, don't have much more gravity than normal, and aren't very hot. The plasma storms that, like I said, OCCASIONALLY occur char the ground, but they are rare and localized and charred the ground over millions of years, not days.
Criticism to Val'herik Dorn: Clear ice has very little friction, and opaque ice is actually quite rough, Val'herik Dorn. Ice planets are affected by a watery form of geology, and get very little fresh ice, and a lot of tension. The ice is cracking and rough, and contaminated with dirt and other things that make it less white and less icy. Also, urban settings suck. Don't make more of those. It makes vehicles blindingly worthless. |

How are we defining a gas giant's "surface"? They don't really have one. They're, y'know, gas. Sure, they often have a metallic or rocky core, but you can't walk on it. Not even in a hardened space suit. The heat and pressure would be far too intense. |

Yes, this happens quite frequently here in Florida. I have a driveway a little over 300 feet long, during the summer rainy season and the winter frontal season, it can rain hard enough to white out the view to even a third of the way down my driveway. It can and does rain this hard for upwards of thirty minutes, coming and going throughout the day.

Permafrost is a great example, it's frozen soil but it does cause traction issues (in today's world) for bulldozers and other equipment, I see no reason this would be any different, if the permafrost were exposed on the surface layer, for various light and heavy vehicles.
