Hay all
Anyone have any advice when it come to the static turrets that you can get into when doing a skrimish battle?
Are they useful? do they do much damage to inventry / vehicles
Can you shoot someone who is in one?
what happens when you are in one and it gets hacked?

Here's a bit of info for you:
They are semi-useful. With forge guns you can pop them in 2-4 shots, large railgun turrets on tanks or in static turrets can two shot other turrets so they are destroyed fairly easily which is a major minus.
They do large amounts of damage and if you are good at aiming then they can be devasting to enemies who aren't equipped to deal with them.
When you 'enter' a turret you actually stand outside it at its console and anyone can shoot you in your back so be careful there.
You cannot hack a turret that has an operator, you'd have to kill them first. |

These turrets can actually be a huge threat, at least to vehicles. |

Manus Peak C has one most times. Some randomness for its location it seems to me and that will limit the actual usefulness.
Protect yourself.
There are four sides, pick the one that gives you the most coverage. I have sniped operators that chose incorrectly. Hackers too.
Be aware of the Reds in the mini-map.
If only Blues are next to you the shooting is probably some griefer wanting to use the Turret. If your shields aren't dropping just ignore them. Friendly Fire is disabled. When it isn't come back and Kill Them. Or blow the turret with explosives while they are using it.
The Forge Gun advice for popping LAVs is valid. Lead the target or wait for them to screw up. There isn't a Non-specialist LAV driver that doesn't screw up every single time they drive. They will stop. Kill Them.
Watch the surrounding area visually. A lot of enemies don't show up on the mini-map as icon Reds.
Do Not Shoot At The MCC. You look like an idiot because you are an idiot. Same goes for temporary HAV Gunners.
Targeting with:
Large Rail Gun vs Infantry - aim at their feet. In particular if they are coming at you. By the time the charge releases they will step into it.
Blaster - just put the cross hair on it and hit it. Much easier to aim.
Missile - Not as prone to the common missile screw up. But the targeting is suspect. Get the cross hair right, pull the trigger, wait for the hit and modify according to your results. I can take out installations if I do that. Just firing usually will not work.
Any on Null Cannons. You cannot hurt the Null Cannon (which is another post entirely) but you can 'fill' the working space with Death. Make sure you test covering it from your position so you can quickly hit the spot when some Red is trying to hack your NC. Then start filling the area next too it as well.
Squad support: If you have Turret being operated keep the operator alive. Saves a clone, an easy kill for the Reds and long range effectiveness for the squad. Logi cannot rep the operator while using the Turret.
Snipers should keep an eye on flanking attempts to come at the operator.
And finally, save yourself. If the Turret takes One Hit be read to back out. Swarms are visible but nothing else is. Watch the shield and armor.
Special to @Scheneighnay McBob. It was cool seeing you in battle. My mic and I are having a disagreement but I did recognize you. See you again, hopefully. |

Also if you're using the railguns, remember they're fully automatic (but overheat if you keep holding the trigger after the 4th shot) |
