The active scanner should interface with the user's HUD, not only showing the scan-detected enemies' locations with red chevrons (the v-shaped markers), but also displays the glowing shapes of the scan-detected enemies through solid objects. It would look similar to this (click here), preferably changing the way everything else is perceived as well (like in the linked image).
Why? Players get no visual feedback that the active scanners are working at all; there is no way to tell if red chevrons are appearing because of the active scanner, or if by someone else using the dropsuits' built-in line of sight spotting system. Seeing an enemy's shape displayed through walls as apposed to just seeing a red chevron would be a sure way to know that its their active scanners working, and to gauge their success at scanning for enemies.
EDIT: Just to remind people, this is about the already existing INFANTRY active scanner equipment, not a module (you hold it with your hand and scan things). If its not on the market and you have no idea what I'm talking about, its probably because CCP took it off the market to fix it because it was problematic. This is NOT a request for a new item, and this is NOT about the vehicle active scanner. |

Resistance 3 used a system like this except that it was an active ability that you had to manually turn on and allowed for the entire team to see them.
I've never played EVE myself, but I know that these modules have a greater effect as there is no real "cover" in space. |

I've never played EVE myself, but I know that these modules have a greater effect as there is no real "cover" in space.
This would be active as well since it would be an effect of the active scanner equipment (already exists), that green infantry equipment thing that you hold like a gun that no one uses because you can't even tell its working. By adding this functionality, it would give the active scannner user visual feedback. |

Module legitimately doesn't work or at least has no indication of it working. Pointing directly at a Heavy behind a wall won't show his chevron or his ticker on the minimap - so if it doesn't work on a Heavy it's not going to work on anything else.
That is to say that the Active Scanner doesn't require a line of sight, which is self defeating. |

In the patch notes CCP claimed they took it off the market and are working on fixing it (though I remember it still being there, IDK). I hope its working next build, |

Curious as to how the **** they thought it was working in the first place. How did it ever make it past internal testing? |

The vehicle active scanner already does this. Really cool. But man, oh man are they visible. The addition hud stuff, meh. You just get more icons/chevrons for Reds and Blues.
Why would you Kitten away a slot when the passives don't make you a big glowing target to aim a precision strike at?
Currently the Skill Tree mods do the work without making you look like a bullet magnet.
Or a Forge Gun magnet.
Or a HMG magnet.
God forbid if they let a Swarm lock onto you. And why wouldn't they. I would expect to be able to with a signature like that. |

I really hope there is some kind of visual feedback system added to the infantry active scanner when it returns to the market, it doesn't have to be something like I am suggesting as long as its a way to differentiate between basic passive dropsuit scanning results and active scanning results. |
