I've used search
As a pilot, there's no way to tell if my doors are open. I hit square but nothing happens. Should some visible animation occur when I hit square?
If not, then pilots need a way to tell if our doors are open
Us at Condor Squad came up with this one |

I didn't even know DS pilots could do that by pressing square. Anyway, visual feedback is needed for these kinds of things. |

I don't think this feature is even in the game yet. I imagine the idea in the future would to be provide extra protection to the infantry you're transporting, by closing the side doors. |

On the help screen for the default flying vehicles that occasionally shows up on loading screens and the info for DS controls after you enter a dropship, it says that square is used to open/close bay doors. |

Any chance that, by specifically saying "bay doors", CCP could be referring to bomb-bay doors in a WWII-style Heavy Bomber aircraft? It's not like we wouldn't need it - you ever zoomed out on the Overview map? we're supposed to get at least all of that sometime in the future. That plus the future ability to call down Installations means carpet-bombing a certain location with fighter escort (which would be added long before HBs) would be a standard way to soften the place up for assault, or enact scorched-earth policy on a lost position, while preparing a counterattack. I might be getting ahead of myself - currently, the "doors" were simply two bar-like pieces that would somewhat protect the regular passengers, while leaving the gunners in open season. |

Aye, currently the button does nothing. When you are on the ground (or close), your landing gear is deployed and the doors are open. When in the air the doors are closed. You should see the doors open and close when leaving the ground or landing. |
