Already the squad leader can call down OBs and in the future instillations and I'm sure more to come, but I would like to see in the future, when player counts in a match increase, an "On Map Support" option. For a lower amount of WP than the orbitals give the squad leader the ability to guide the assets on the battlefield to where they effectively need them.
-Example 1: Mortar tanks are sieged at the edge of the map, ofcourse they can dumbfire and coordinate with comms on their own but I would like to see the squad leader be able to coordinate them for around 500wp. The squad lead would mark an area for the artillery and like OBs the area will be marked for the enemy to see except it will be more subtly displayed as something like a 3m diameter target on the surface of the ground that lasts only a few seconds. The tanks designated for the strike will see a thin blue arc on there screen that would give the exact directions on where to shoot. Once they optimally line up the turret with the arc it would turn from blue to red and then fun times will commence. After around 15 seconds the arc will disappear but the artillery will still be able to shell the area as needed. (I realize this could become simple spam over objectives that's why I think mortars should be balanced with: Shielding instillations, a limited ammo supply, and/or FF turned on in all security secs when it comes to mortar rounds.)
-Example 2: Fighters, bombers and gunships are whirling around in the sky attempting to maintain air superiority. For x WP the squad leader can select from a list previously designated squadrons to lay down either a strafing or bombing run over enemy assets. The SL can choose what direction he wants the strike to come from and a large blue, transparent triangle will be displayed on the surface of the ground acting as an arrow, the enemy will not see the arrow or get any warning of this strike other than the incoming aircraft. The chosen group of aircraft will then receive a notification and an objective on the map. A compass will be added on their hud as extra information of which direction the strike will come from along with the arrow on the ground. After a sufficient amount of fire is places over the arrow on the ground it will disappear and the air vehicles will then go about their business.
I mentioned above that the groups will be designated and organized in the support menu, this would be a task job for the commander in the MCC to organize.
Any feedback on the current 2 examples will be appreciated along with other ideas for on map support options. I also see a free option for reinforcements or a group of field medics needed that doesn't require any warpoints. |
