What about the official release aren't we going to have our AUR and event prizes reimbursed?!
CCP should be more careful with these things and use the right wording |

CCP is stating this is the last reset but what about when game officially released aren't we going to have a reset? so actually there is at least two resets the upcoming one and the one before official release.

When the game finally launches officially everyone's gonna start at clean slate. Not so that people in open beta are 10M SP ahead and have a ton of officer salvage. After the discussed announcement that is no longer the case. Open beta is not the release of Dust, it is not the launch, it is not marketed or made readily available to the grand public. I, for one, would appreciate a clarification from CCP representative. "what happens in beta stays in beta" * *) with the exception of bought and promotional rewards. Exactly they need to clearify these things

This is not some FPS that is released and everyone starts at the same time and then fades out a few months later. Players will join and be behind from now on. New players may have a rough few weeks but will hopefully specialize and then be useful. Our skills will grow wider, not deeper.
Be a leader. Take in the young dust bunnies and help them along. If so then its just stupid move from CCP imo not everyone interested in DUST is going to join the beta most console players prefer to join once the game fully developed and officially released thats why you don't see many betas on consoles.
God knows when the game will be released so beta players will be at huge advantage and come release (which is normally the big day for every game) the newbies will be turned off from the get go and eventually playerbase will be the same beta players. |

Tzaar Bomba wrote:New to MMOs? Open beta is pretty much more or less an "official release" everyone that wants to, can play freely. We are merely getting a two week head start. It will be our job to guide the noobs. Clearly some will do better then others, be happy you get head start. If so where is the marketing for the pseudo-release! Don't forget we are talking about about consoles players here, i know you are thinking once beta goes open you will see a massive influx of players but thats won't happen believe me.
am merely concerned about the future of this game, consoles player don't have the patients of PC gamers this is coming from a guy who games on both. |

You will never see "full release" from CCP. NEVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this game will keep receiving updates and expansions so there is no FULL release but Official release is another thing a game on beta state isn't the same as a game fully developed and will grow through expansions |

I guarantee there will be an "official" release, and Open Beta won't be it. Sony has been pushing Dust pretty hard, and they won't let Dust be released with the whimper of a never-ending Open Beta. They and CCP will need to capitalize on the marketing potential in drumming up the official release.
Anyone who has played MMOs understands that an official release is not the final release, and that the game will develop. FPS players, on the other hand, expect a polished FPS experience first and foremost, and we're not there, yet.
Back on topic: I agree, it would be a grave mistake to release the game without a wipe after open beta. EVE has a notoriously brutal learning curve, and Dust isn't much better. That combined with throwing in total n00bs along with vets with millions of SP running around in proto gear is a nightmare launch scenario.
I don't care how many people say "it's fine, you are behind in all MMOs if you join after launch." It's not fine. MMO players might be fine with it to a certain extent. This is an MMOFPS, and FPS players are known for being competitive - and news of an "unbalanced" launch will kill the game before it even gets off the ground. Alternative scenario is that CCP decides to nerf SP and higher-tier gear further, and I can imagine the resulting epic forum QQ.
All that might be alleviated with proper matchmaking so that people with low SP/gear get matched together, but I wouldn't trust that. Thank you for explaining what i was trying to say! there is no game that stay in beta state forever there must be a day for the game to debut as fully developed game for everyone to start play there must be a marketing campaign for it. |
