As we all know, spawn killers are weak spineless cowards with no skill to get a kill on their own, ambush is a good game mode we all know, but the WORST thing about it in my opinion and I believe others will agree is that the random spawn point is a big problem, half the time you respawn on the opposite side of the map that your team is on and as a result you are surrounded by enemies with no chances of living through it, I believe a solution to this would be to make one section of the map available to 1 team only, one on each side of the map so that their team members can respawn in safety and around their own team, allowing better fun.
Another BIG problem is spawn killing (killing an enemy within their spawn time, allowing no reaction and no game play) basically walking up to a position and seeing an enemy instantly appear and killing them before they can even see the hud screen, on the side of the person getting killed, its as if your not allowed to play the game at all, all you do is choose your fitting then 5-10 seconds later your avatar spawns in (blackened screen) then your instantly killed allowing absolutely no gameplay, if you refuse to fix the other problem about ambush (1st paragraph of this post) then it would be wise for ccp to add a 3-5 second immunity right when you respawn in game, which would allow you enough time to react and get to safety, this would also negate the ability for players to kill and be killed within 5 seconds of respawning, in my opinion these 2 problems and solutions must be looked at by ccp if they want Dust514 to grow. |

Couldnt agree more. Sure I spwan camp as much as the next guy, but its only because (A) I can and (B) if i dont they will spawn, throw a nade at their feet that may or may not kill themselves, but sure as hell kills me lol
Some sort of immunity to allow the player to make SOME form of move before being mowed down is the LEAST that should be done...
honestly just a better spawn system is what is needed. You should not spawn and there being 5 red dots surrounding you. Makes this game all about knowing spawn points and camping them, rather than some form of on-field battle strategy |

Man, that's one of the main reasons I came to the forum! The spawn system still needs a lot of work, this problem is even more frequent on Ambush mode, since there's no spawn point to select.
I believe that your "immunity time" solution is the best one, 3 to 5 seconds where the soldier can't be damaged nor do damage, so the only option is to regroup and such. (I believe if he is just immune, then a lot of people would just rush to get kills).
I hope they do that at least in the complete version. |

Ambush has, hands down, the worst spawn system EVER. I just lost 4 TypeII Assaults, with a pretty price tag, due to continuously spawning right in the middle of anywhere from 3 to 6 enemies, & one time 3 reds and a tank. WTH!!! Can't enjoy/test if you can't play.
I saw somewhere, here I think, or in patch notes, that the way it spawns is to encourage battle progression. WHAT?! It's Ambush, the goal is kill ALL of the enemy. Do they really think we need to be forced into this. I don't know about yous guys, but I love annihilating those red bastards, even though some are teammates from time to time. Believe me you, WE WILL FIGHT, WE WILL BLEED & WE WILL DIE!!! IT'S WHAT WE DO!!!
At this point it's like, screw everything but ISK & SP. Don't need anything for that, just participate. Run straight BPO or starter fits, throw nanos right away for WP's & try to survive. Rinse and repeat. Forget KDR & W/L, just get filthy rich and stockpile salvage & SP. Hit cap, switch characters & do it again.
Bear in mind, this is not what I want to do, but it's the only logical thing TO do. I start out using my decent fittings, but it is quickly not cost effective, and I switch to free gear. I don't care if I die the same amount anyway, I at least want to be able to play.
It has been suggested to throw Drop Uplinks. Trust me, I tried this. Wanna know what happens? Ever heard of spawn camping? Happens every time. Only way to stop it is to stay put & constantly defend the uplink. And even then, all it takes is a halfway decent enemy sniper to ruin everyones day. Boring, and you get no help from your "team". They're too busy running all over the map like chickens with their heads cut off. Why will they defend a Clone reanimation unit, but not an uplink? They're the same thing, sorta! |

Problem with dedicated spawns as we have all seen this week is redlining of one team in a matter of minutes. Sorry but thats even more boring. Yes ambush sucks when you get "ambushed" by enemies but damn if it doesnt add to the hecticness of the game mode.
I will simply add a few tips.
1. Dont DIE!! I know this may sound condescending but it really does help.
2. If you do use an uplink be smart about it and dont just throw it anywhere throw it up on elecvation somewhere with little to no regular foot traffic.
3. Don't be in such a rush to spawn back into the game when you die. When you are down the clone count doesnt drop until you bleed out or hit respawn. Also if you are revived you don't lose your suit. Yes it may suck when incompetent revivers rez you in a firefight (hold sprint and forward on your left stick to immediately run upon standing).
4. When you first spawn in and also respawn in. WAIT. When the game first loads up everyone is spawning in at the same time even though the spawns are random they are also fixed locations so you are very likely to get thrown into enemies if you dont wait- I like to wait 15-30 seconds and i randomize it in case others are doing the same). Expanding on this when you first choose to RESPAWN it will try to select a safe area but once that 10s timer starts you are commited to that spawn unless you press cancel. IF enemies migrate toward you due to general enemy movement during battle you may get "ambushed". Instead wait a few seconds for the mobility of enemies to come to a constant when you know they are engaged in a firefight and then spawn back in.
So in essence the key to ambush is patience at all times. Wait to spawn in during the start of the game, wait to respawn after you die. Most of all WAIT TO DIE and bleed out before you spawn back in, it could potentially result in a rez which will SAVE YOUR SUIT and PRESERVE THE CLONE COUNT!!!
Yes it sucks dying multiple times from a cruddy rezzer but if they do it more than twice then perhaps choose to respawn and move on. All it does is cost you a bit in terms of stats but all it costs the TEAM is ONE CLONE.
Thanks and happy hunting

What about temporary "immunity/no firepower", is just enough to give you time to breath. I agree that on Skirmish, spawn selection is part of the strategy, and it doesn't suck that much, the whole point it's to fortify the important parts. But in Ambush, and who knows what other future modes, there probably can be a solution. |
