I was thinking it would be cool if vehicles had a "lockdown" feature that prevents entering the vehicle driver's seat by anyone other than the owner. This would prevent random blues from thieving your vehicle and generally make leaving it feel safer. This could also making hacking take slightly longer to complete.
Another idea to go along with that is a deployable vehicle storage with limited cargo capacity (so you can't jam 5 tanks in there.) This would allow people to retire their vehicles safely and retrieve them again when needed. Of course, installations would need to be added to DUST first. |

There is alot of these threads... use search funftion.
And my opinion is that everything should be stealable, even to your 'friends'. But the thing that I hate about current mechanic is that everyone can steal a vehicle and drive it, even tho they don't have skill books for it. But if one fould try to use ones own then that is not possible if one lacks the skillbooks. |

I never get this lockdown thing, The driver never leaves the car. It just sounds like you are abusing the LAV and using it as a personal transport to A to out hack team mates. Or using it as a mini tank and driving full force to enemies and switching seats to turret. Then get mad when other players burst your bubble. |

I like the idea of requiring the correct skills to operate another person's vehicle on the field. I've stolen ships in EVE before though and I don't remember needing the skills first. |

I see. It's been a while since I've played.
Since that's the case in EVE it should be true for dust. I wanted to share a tank in a random match I definitely wouldn't call down a 2m+ sargaris.
The strangest thing thats happened to me yet is someone stole my tank in ambush and survived till the end and I got my tank back. Either my team was cool as **** or the enemy desperately wanted to show me up. It sucked being a scrub but I guess it's also a "fun" learning process. |

True in Eve, not true in Dust. I don't favor a lock, but I do favor having to have the right skills to drive the vehicle. |

Wouldn't it then also have to be true for turrets? That would cause problems. Though, I would prefer someone with skills using them. |

Did it eventually warp out? Strange ship to leave as bait or something. |
