Whilst burning "the fields" in Far Cry 3, I came to the conclusion that flame throwers are awesome. Do we need flame throwers in Dust?...HA! HELL NO! That would outdated technology in the world of EVE and besides, these suits are most likely flame retardant.
But exactly how much heat can these suits handle?
That's where I got the idea for a medium range Amarr Heavy Weapon that uses microwave heat. This weapon wouldn't fire a stream of heat, but rather create a condensed pocket of it at intense levels to the point where the ground is blackened and any metal in the pocket glows orange. This would be an area denial weapon and crowd breaker. It won't kill once the pocket is made but anyone who isn't quick to get out of there will die.
How it would work:
1. point weapon at area your choosing.
2. Hold down fire button to create pocket. You will be unable to move while weapon is firing.
3. Watch your enemies sizzle.
This weapon can overheat of course and drain ammo about as quickly as an HMG. This weapon would have a weak effect against vehicles, but you could cook a LAV driver up real nice since they're so exposed. If by any chance someone or something gets between the weapon and the intended target area, that person/thing is now the location of the pocket.
As for how wide the pockets and how much damage is dealt a second, I don't know. |

How about a little nozzle thing that spews a stream of plasma like what occurs in a solar flare? That will probably do more damage than EM waves, but you're area of denial idea is pretty solid.
Also, an LAV pilot would have to be still in order for you to cook them, because they move, so they would get lots of ventilation,, thus cooler air moving past them as the displace it around the car. |

+1 to the idea of a support-type heavy weapon. At the moment all we have are killing machines (how awful for us). I think an energy weapon would be great to fill this role, and although I'm skeptical of this particular weapon's appeal, I do like the idea of, say, covering the exit to a room with a microwave bubble & forcing the occupants into a confrontation with teammates.
Edit: is the upcoming plasma cannon going to be a heavy weapon? Because it could well behave similarly. |

I want the Amarr arc cannon described in the book Templar One. Fires 17k degree bolts of plasma to zap and shred to things. |

I expect that one to be a ridiculously short range explosive anti-lav weapon based on gallente blaster tech.
bigger or faster hits than forge which require you to get retardaclose |

If you really want to go down this route, check into Mass Effect 3's Reegar Carbine.
Not so sure I love it as a main weapon though. Not with the current maps. There's a ton of other things I'd like to see happen before something like this....like diff suits for the diff races....but I don't think anyone would be apposed to it. Question is, how oftne could you use it? |

I love that gun in ME3, and would love something like that as a heavy weapon. I think an Amarr heavy weapon is really needed lore-wise considering they're the only race with a heavy suit right now. Kind of odd to have a suit to carry weapons that your race don't have (silly Amarr). |

Maybe something like a trooper's ion cannon abilities from swtor- if you don't know what I'm talking about, think of it as a short-range lightning gun. |
