Watch this DUST 514 review made this past summer.

Their commentary still rings absolutely true to this day even though we have had x3 "builds" since the review publication. |

And? Reviews are the opinions of the person or persons that are doing that review. It doesn't mean that everybody will follow it. And so what if the average person won't play it. EVE itself is a niche game and does quite well. To be honest, I think CCP prefers it that way. Even if DUST only gets 10,000 or less players overall when it comes down to it. It won't really matter because the number of corps and alliances in FW and Null are less then then the number of people that sit in high sec and mope around. |

That hit the nail on the head and is still true completely, The girl just was being very kind. That im sure basic online players wont be.
Why would you make a game that is free to play that only 1 person out of 1000 likes? |

And...the beta is supposed to be a time for opinions. Not blind fanboy acceptance to less than 10,000 players. You're dillusional if you think a game company aims that low. |

No, but most companies make games based for the majority of players. Again, CCP may be just looking to get into that niche that EVE kind of has except with the PS3 crowd. There are some. |

Let's do some Maths. 10000 player base. That'll be around 2000 - 3000 players at any time. Then there's the 10% competative players, 10% of which are in their own league. So 200-300 players who are factors with 20-30 face rolling players.
You know, most of the MAG elite quit playing because rolling the same people, every week, just isnt fun.
Secondly, all you fucktards saying "it's a niche game" climb out from your cave, look at the light of day, and realise YOU are the niche. Dust has mass market appeal, if they just put in a god damn nOOb zone.
If there aren't 40-50k player counts, Dust will be stale from day 1. Not good for the microtransactions. |

You can do that when your game has a subscription fee, but with free to play its always best to get the majority of players and that review didnt even say it was way to nichie. It said their were core problems in controls , map design, and maybe they bit off more then they could chew review. I hate saying fanboy but really stop and think, that was from escapist that makes money off eve from ads. As a PS3 player sometimes it does worry me that CCP has only made one game in 10 years , with 2 games being pushed back.It shows a company that likes to stick to what it knows and with such a big move you really have to be like a drill Sergent or old habits form . We all want Dust to succeed and I really want them to kick COD butt

Lol @ dropship pilot at 1:20.
Looks to me they were reviewing an older build, there have been some significant changes since then, especially to the pace. |

That video review was pretty accurate for when it was made. I think the FPS mechanics have improved a lot but CCP have yet to produce the features promised that will really make the game stand out.
I was also impressed at how much nicer the game looked in the video. Lots of cinematic features blended into the game footage made it seem fuller than it actually is. |

Problem #1)she described Dust as a "deathmatch shooter" and "online deathmatch",when it's more than that.
Problem #2)she says about vehicles,"there is a solid feel to the way they fire and maneuver".Really?!
The main thing that I would like to know is roughly how much time was put into Dust from the reviewer.Personally,I can't take any review of a game that requires a significant amount of game play seriously,if they haven't put in a decent amount of time into it.Most of the time, reviewers don't put that much time into games like this because it's not in their professional interest to do so.
There are some valid points about the shooting mechanics, but honestly, what's the point of reviewing a beta if you aren't going to do follow up reviews when a new build comes out?Seems a bit uninformed and just irresponsible as a reviewer to do so. |

Ok, so they pushed Dust and WoD back. They pushed WoD back due to the way they want to get it to work. That's an RPG, the game play and all that are not the issue there. It's due to stuff they wanted to do to carbon for it. And they pushed Dust back because it's not ready. If the launch build turns out bad. Then it turns out bad. EVE itself had a pretty bad launch. It manage to pick up quite well. There are worse games then Dust 514 that get launched from all those supposed to be AAA companies that end up being total trash. Yet for some reason people play them. While Dust still has issues right now, we don't know what CCP is doing. We're not looking over their should while they work. Who is to say the problems that are endemic at the time of the review and up to this current build will be present during launch? And since this isn't a game you buy, play and then buy the next edition that comes out with a bunch of high priced expansions or DLCs in between. Even if something is a little off, then they can always go back in and fix it. |

Well, yeah there is that. Someone that hops into a game and plays for 20 minutes isn't going to really have a good understanding of it. Even if they're comparing mechanics etc, to another game that they have reviewed, tested or played. |

No one is going to review a game for 2 months to fully understand it , tops a week. Even Mag that I know you guys hate hearing about had a face lift a year later but every review was done and the games fate was judged. I dont even think any of the reviewers got to lvl 9 in Mag to play domination the biggest reason from all the reviews. Also after getting this doesnt work and this doesnt work , im sure the NDA played a important role in a follow up. |

The worst review for halo 4 lauded it for not having ADS, human enemies (which is ironic if you payed attention to the story), and lack of quick time events.
Mind you the Escapist has given Eve Online extremely poor reviews despite eve's continued annual success.
The escapist has also praised a (thought quite very few rare) games that I found well... to be nearly just as shoddy as every other game they review.
Either way the escapist is a great review site if you really want to see any game trashed to be honest. |

That's their fault for breaking the NDA and not following the rules. |

The graphics are slowly getting better but no where near par . I just don't understand what CCP is doing with their time, patch notes to good games are extensive and are more than just about nerfing and buffing.
They better have a big ace up their sleeve because if what we have now goes public...

Im sure the escapist had permission since they are a company , where the NDA would matter the most. Also would need permission to do a follow up |

The point is that the sentiments in that review are still held by a good portion of dusts potential playerbase. I'm still racking my brain as to why it's almost a half year later and we've seen minimal improvement and implementation |
