ok, so no particular stats to pull from at the moment so I'll create the question through a scenario and simple geometry.
My weapon has a range of 100 meters
I know I can hit my target at a level distance 100 meters away, but what if he was elevated from the same spot?
The range has not changed in my mini map as it is only 2d, but if my target was elevated high enough for a shot at 45 degrees, the actual travel distance of the shot is 141 meters.
Does this shot hit or miss?
is my weapon range in a cylinder, or a sphere? |

All that matters is your phsical distance from the target. If you take the high ground but hes low enough you will miss or plink his shields uselessly think of any bullet being fired as on its on plane that is the distance that matters. If on that plane he is your range + 1 you miss. |

makes sense, you can miss people through range by being above them. Camp in the MCC spawn area and try to shoot people straight down. You're bullets will still magically dissapear.

That's a mechanic, you can't shoot out of the MCC. I've tried Sniping a guy camping underneath, and there is no bullet past the blue force field. |

Bullets and projectiles cannot travel through the mcc bay shields, dropships can though :P |

Then use the glitch that can get you to the engine of the MCC. Perfect sniper roost unless...

The thing about range is after you start hitting the max effective range your bullets start doing less damage. |

This seems to be absolutely true,though there's no stat showing how much of a decrease,and at what range that decrease is taking effect. |
