When I put turrets on a vehicle whose skills are used by its wielder? Do my turrets inherently carry my skills or does it adopt the skills of the person using it? Also if there are mix of some skills where some are mine and others are the gunner's, what is the mix? |

I'm pretty sure turret skills are applied only by the driver/pilot of a vehicle, because it isn't really 'Turret Operation' or 'Turret Proficiency'. It's should be 'Turret Upgrade' or 'Turret Enhancement', yknow.
Good question though, I'm not too sure still. :P |

GM Hercules wrote:Interesting questions; allow me to make some research. not needed i tested this on codex. I used a Saga LAV with 2X20% damage mods combined with a XT-1 fragmented missile launcher (455HP direct hit damage). My skills where at that pointlike this: turret operation= lvl 5 (2% extra damage per lvl) small missile turret operation= lvl5 (3% extra damage per lvl) small missile turret proficency= lvl2 (2% extra damage per lvl)
my gunner had no skillpoints into vehicles at all and he needed at this point while i was driving 4 shots to destroy a large installation like missiles/blaster/railguns. He needed 4 shots cause the turret survived 3 shots with like 10HP left over on armor. So i decided to lvl up small missile turret proficency to lvl 3 (2% extra damage). And the next match we tried again and he only needed 3 shots to destroy those large turret installation. However when i was sitting in the gunner seat my skills had no effect on the turret at all. Simple sayd the driver skillbooks effect the whole vehicle. Best example are the skills that effect shields/armor. When the LAV gets deployed it has its base health with no skillbooks but as soon somebody drives it the shields/armor goes up by a bit. But when you only get into the turret with no driver the skillbooks have no effect at all. I think i know the reason behind this. For a example take a tank. When all seats would have a effect on the vehicle (skillbook wise) then you could get some very high numbers on the shields and mega stacking for turrets which would turn a small blaster into a insta kill death machine. |

Tested this months ago. It is the person in the turret seat whose skills are used to affect damage. |

Bump. Even the few replies so far don't agree although both points of view say "has already been tested. It depends on the (drivers/turret operators) skill..." I would like to know from the Devs. Thanks GM Hercules, please don't insinuate we'll get an answer then leave us hanging. |

Yes I think everyone has wondered about this... If I had to guess I would say the turrett type is the drivers, turret skills apply to the gunner using them... Please keep this post alive I would love to know!! |

Every time we asked in IRC they always said it was the person who called it in. However that was months ago and the where hoping to shift it to the operator. |

Here's the reality, the devs know how it may be INTENDED to work, but the testers have a more accurate accounting of how they ACTUALLY work.
The turret damage is affected by the person who is pulling the trigger, just as vehicle stats are controlled by who is in the driver seat. |

yeah, it'd be great to hear an answer, this question has been floating around for awhile.
My guess? The turret operator. Think about installations. I think a tank/LAV driver is just a mobile installation unit. the blue dots use their own skills as applied to the damage. |

Have to agree with Noc, My corp mate with Turret skills does better damage and gets more kills than the ones without it. |

Anyone think that both responses are correct? Like it may be the driver's skillbooks for LAVs and the Gunners skillbooks in Dropships/Tanks? It's pretty hard for us to test in a closed environment, especially in regards to killing players. Some people and some turrets are better shots. |

Im almost positive unless its been changed to to make tanks suck even more than they already do, but Its the skills that the dude pulling the trigger has that increases the damage for the turret.... Nerf turrets their OP, LOL |

You guys have gotten the answer by Noc. We've tested these things by doing something like shooting an installation, seeing damage done, having someone else with different skills jump in the seat and repeat the process. |

From what I remember when we've asked about it other times in IRC, we were told it's supposed to be the one pulling the trigger that applies the bonuses. So, working as intended as far as I'm aware. |

So the owner needs the skill to fit the turret, but the gunner uses it for the damage bonus?
One skill used for two totally different effects? |
