Currently, there is no starter class that is vehicle oriented. It might be because the pilot suit isn't out yet. But, that's most likely the case, and your going to have to level them up from scratch. Well, how is that fair? It isn't. How it would be set up is gets the pilot suit as the dropsuit, either no weapon, or the scrambler pistol as the starter weapon (unless the pilot suit has no gun slot). It would have vehicle command at level 3, and have all LAV skills at 1. It could have piloting at 1 as well, but that's kinda pushing it.
(Note: be reasonable e.g. not a raging butthurt noob AV person who got owned by a HAV and thinks all vehicles are OP.) |

I wouldn't be opposed to the general concept, tho I'd opt for more general vehicle skills such as Turret Operation rather than a spread of LAV levels which might or might not have anything to do with a players intended path.

Odd how I didn't put turret operation, when I know it should be in there. And the reason why I chose the LAV is because it's currently the cheapest and most noob-friendly vehicle to start into. |

I agree but I suspect they have something planned, probably not something I will agree with but hey, its not my game.
I had a post deleted because I complained about CCP wasting my SP when I wanted to start this char as a pilot. I had planned out my initial 500k SP and what you actually get to work with is not half of that. It puts a major dampening on any pilot's early progression. I have a lot of SP tied up in junk skills just to keep alive long enough to fly. Of course, with Chromosome there is no reason to fly anyway. So, long enough to drive your HAV.
I don't think LAV is worth the time either. You need small turret skills so running a Baloch and various mods/equip/turret combinations should keep you busy enough until you can afford to destroy HAVs on a regular basis. I wouldn't recommend spending a single SP into missile anything until they fix missile turrets. But rail guns and blasters are pretty good. It is a shame because I used to love my Oni Impact. Now I would rather pay for a Baloch then waste time with the missiles. It doesn't have enough PG/CPU to run anything else. I will use a free Impact build just to get from point A to B if they are more than 300 meters away. |
