Does it take 10 freakin hours to open up a slot?
Anyone here tried to delete a character? Ten hours wait before that slot is available. I wanted to start over on my main with a Heavy specific start, so I deleted my Heavy slot that I never used and I get hit with a 10 hour wait time.
What, pray tell, is the reason for this? |

One reason for making that timer if so that players won't abuse the starter ISK.
1.Create your char. 2.Transfer your starting 500.000 ISK to corporation. (Or other char when that is implemented) 3.Delete this char. 4.Rince and repeat.
And by the way if this is done repeatedly and multiple times = intent of gaining ISK, this is considered a expoloit. |

This is done in EVE as well for the ISK reason posted above. It also helps counter rage deletes on characters as you have to wait 10 hours and usually by then you've calmed down / sobered up. Saves CCP from having a bunch of "can you undelete my character" calls. I know a bunch of people who have had to make the "I was drunk, undelete my character" in WoW because they don't have this feature. |

What, pray tell, is the reason for this? This is a GOOD feature. In previous builds your character was wiped out with one tap of the Square button on the login screen. |

1. To discourage the ISK exploit that was nicely explained by Odiain Suliis over here. 2. To protect the character from yourself in case you got drunk, went into an emo-rage quit fit, or some other thing that later makes you regret your actions. 3. Be glad you only have to wait 10 hours. In Eve Online, we have to wait 24 hours. |

I've played Eve, which leads me to some other questions in response to your list
1) ISK exploit? really? 500k? Its been a while since I've been around but last time I was looking into Dust it was stated: A dust corp is an eve corp and vice versa. The ISK plays out in both games, thus....500K ain't SQUAT. That's the first issue with this. Secondly, it doesn't really stop the practice does it? It just slows it down. Since this is the closed beta and only my BattleCry1791 account has access to the server I can't test this theory but I imagine that I'll be able to use all 5 PSN accounts to create players. That's 5 x 3 = 15. Now, let's say I actually want to play on two of those. That still leaves me with 13 that I can create and delete twice a day giving me 6,500,000 ISK a day to my corp. This doesn't really stop the rate of inflation of ISK now does it? It only hinders it. A better way needs to be thought up. And honestly, even at 6.5 mil a day, that's virtually nothing compared to what a brand new player in Dust can get from an existing Eve Corp.
2) Protect...? Wah...? Whatever happened to "YOU JUST WALKED INTO THE WRONG NEIGHBORHOOD M*THERFUCKER...WELCOME TO NEW EDEN!!!!"? Granted on tap of the square button seems like a dev miss, but can't they just throw "Are you sure you want to delete this character? You're NEVER getting it or any of the AUR back!!" like 15 times to the point where you rage quit the rage quit because it queues so many times?
3) Eve's excruciating to me for a lot reasons and thus I don't play it any more. |

@BattleCry
Ahem...
Watch that frakking attitude. I didn't respond to you in the manner you just did to me. So why are you acting like this?
1. Exploits are a bannable offense to CCP Games. It don't matter if the exploit is only mitigated. Anyone caught doing it will either have their wallets turn negative, accounts banned, or both depending on the severity.
2. Again, what's with this attitude? I didn't talk like this to you.
3. Considering your hostile attitude towards my reply, I'm glad you quit playing Eve. Sadly, you're here playing Dust as well. I just hope to god you are just really drunk right now and might possibly wake up tomorrow regretting how you replied to me. If that's the case, I forgive you. If you are not really drunk right now, and you really are honestly being hostile to me while not under the influence of any substances, then I'm gonna tell you to stop posting right now and leave Dust this very moment.
EDIT:
PS: I don't take bullshit from players like you who talk to me that way when I was trying to help inform you.
Also, you're lucky we're in beta where we get to exploit things for the time being since it is for the sake of finding problem and balancing the game. Once this goes live, don't expect CCP to be so lenient. |

Oh for f*ck's sake calm down. 1) Thanks for taking the time to explain the WHY. 2) My animosity is not directed at you, you're the messenger, no need to shoot. My angst is really directed at the concept. Which is not yours, but CCP's.
Please do not take my previous post as a personal attack, wasn't meant to be. More so just OUTRAEG!!! in general at the policy. |

Frankly I find it a good idea, it does mitigate an exploit, it stops people from rage deleting, gives people time to think if they really want to delete, and yes there are believe it or not people who will want to delete then give it some thought and come back and say actually I'm happy as I am and finally if you are deleting to make a new char that means you have all 3 slot filled already so while you wait why not just play on one of the other 2? It's not like you're locked out of your account while you wait for 1/3 chars to delete. Remember good things come to those who wait. |
